  1. If he produces at the '22 levels, he's probably a 3.5ish fWAR guy (had 2.4 fWAR in only 94 G in '22). Franco probably won't play next season. Yes, I wasn't meaning that they really have to compare position by position, but as a whole. Last year, they really struggled up the middle. They need to make sure that C/SS/2B/CF isn't a dumpster fire on 4/1.
  2. Sleepers: 39 - Paez: hoping the new dev crew can get some additional MPH out of his arm 42 - Yuten: struggled at Salem, but a second year in US could see him pop 48 - Riemer: could be on the Meidroth track 49 - Olivarez: Mata part 2 54 - Liu: think he needs to be put in the bullpen and see if he gets additional life
  3. Should be a very boring next couple of weeks then. I wouldn't sign if I was Snell or Monty.
  4. Martin and Jansen won't be coming back. There SHOULD be a youth movement. I don't get the hesitation to spend (if it actually exists).
  5. I don't like that approach for the reasons noted above.
  6. Instead of comparing to 2023, the Sox should be comparing themselves to what is at the top of the division.
  7. Maybe everyone else already started on their nog?
  8. Yamamoto said he was going to sign AFTER Ohtani anyway. Maybe this will get the offseason moving quicker?
  9. I hate the idea of putting off a move until the deadline to make your team better. Do it before the season starts and you may have 3-4 additional wins before the deadline. Plus, deadline deals typically come at a premium. Don't they need to sell tickets this offseason anyway?
  10. I'm not counting on the Sox to do anything either. Just trying to keep an open mind and not be a Grinch this season. I'll wait until ST opens before I make any final proclamations.
  11. You should be worried about Rule 5 guys that you lose for free because they can be traded or actual value ahead of time.
  12. The cost fits into Henry's Excel sheet.
  13. IMO, there is no such thing as a low risk/high reward guy. If there's a low risk, it's because there's a low reward. O'Neill will probably be a 1.5 fWAR guy at best. He is a decent platoon bat and has a fairly decent glove. I'm not sure if anyone has an idea if it'll be ok in Fenway. He's like a more injury prone Renfroe? My guess is that a few years ago he'll be a guy most people forget played on the Sox.
  14. If something is hard to do, should they just give up and not try to do it?
  15. If the Sox can add Yamamoto and trade for Burnes, it puts them in a great position in the division. The Yanks added a big bat, but still have a lot of ??? in the rotation aside from Cole. The Rays are looking to get rid of Glasnow and are always churning through TJS with their pitchers. The Jays missed out on Ohtani and are perennial middle of the pack. The O's are young and hungry, but haven't added and probably won't.
  16. What later moves? If they keep hoarding prospects, more guys will be gone via the Rule 5 process. May as well start clearing up space now. The Dodgers are not known for holding onto prospects until the end of time.
  17. I'm at work and anxious to avoid doing work. What do you expect me to do? Not post on a weekday? Impossible!
  18. IDK, he tanked once the rumor mill circled. He doesn't seem like a guy that can live up to pressure. His best season was 2020 when no fans were in attendance. I don't see him having a career year unless it's Yankee Stadium driven.
  19. I'm not sure that it matters that they traded away Verdugo and how it relates to Mookie Betts. Are we going to relitigate the Betts deal when Wong is no longer in the org too?
  20. On no! I'm not really concerned about a 2 fWAR guy doing much damage. Like I said before, I hope he has a career year and the Yanks give him an Ellsbury type deal.
  21. Part of building the farm is to help your MLB through trades...
  22. He was worried about the tax implications of playing in CA and wanted to make sure he wouldn't completely screw over whatever team he played for.
  23. He's been pretty great at SS. If he can just stay healthy, I think he'll be productive but that's why you don't intentionally buy damaged goods.
  24. Better than a year where nobody is available.
  25. They'd be punting on the CBT for the next 5 years. Henry should take note.
