  1. Urena is one of the worst pitchers in the league. Could he get better at some point? Maybe. He hasn't had an ERA below 5 since 2018!
  2. Also, Keller's fastball is in the 34th percentile. Is that topflight velo now? WTH?
  3. The sheer amount of blue on Keller's statcast page should keep notin awake at night, but I'm not worried about the Sox signing him since he's awful at generating whiffs. 8th percentile xwOBA! Yuck!
  4. Huh? Manaea had 4.89 ERA/3.81 xFIP in 81 innings. That's not lights out numbers for a bulk relief role. That dude stinks and is not an effective starter. If he couldn't pitch with SDP's defense behind him, he shouldn't pitch at Fenway.
  5. A lottery only makes punting pointless if you had the #1 pick in the prior draft.
  6. Those names are rotten.
  7. I don't believe Henry and Werner are a unified front and see eye to eye on everything.
  8. Price was thrown in at the end to seal the deal.
  9. It's a completely different trade market and trading partner. Again, what deals at the time were better than what they got? There weren't a lot of pitching heavy deals being floated back then. I'm sure Bloom would have loved one.
  10. Probably because they were waiting on the best deal available because they were trading a franchise player!
  11. It all goes into the voting stew buddy.
  12. I'll be patient with the changes Crag makes in that regard. Bloom had his ways of handling the pipeline, Crag will do things differently.
  13. It takes a unique mental outlook to live everyday down here.
  14. I'm thinking more towards the '25 crop of Teel/Mayer/Anthoney/Yorke or whoever doesn't get traded.
  15. Don't let them come any further south.
  16. I don't care. It's not an award for who got the most fWAR. At some point, there are lots of stats to look at and determining "better season" can come down to personal opinion especially when bWAR and fWAR don't play nicely with each other.
  17. And constantly pushing their pitching picks to the 4th round has given them what? Matt Duffy, last year's pitchability pick is currently unranked on SoxProspects. Anyone excited about Dalton Rogers or Noah Dean from 2022? Drafting guys with the ceiling of "emergency back end starters" isn't great for that pitching pipeline IMO.
  18. You can't prove they are good at if they don't try. The first 2-3 rounds are usually the GM picks.
  19. Not much grumbling from what I remember, at least nothing like now. It was just "how do they replace ERod?"
  20. Steele threw less innings and had less k's. Gallen pitching two extra starts for a Cindarella playoff team gets him in over Wheeler, but they were pretty similar.
  21. What trade offers reported at that time would you have rather had? Cal Quantrill and Capusano?
  22. I don't remember there being pressure that offseason? They were coming off an ALCS run and that Story move came from out of nowhere at the end of the offseason.
  23. I think that was probably told to him in the interview process. When you compare the Dodgers received to the Padres offers, the Verdugo trade was still the better one. Should have just taken Brusdar.
  24. Whether he did it to himself or his shoes were tied together by ownership, we won't know until the Speier 300 page book.
