  1. @JeffWilsonTXR We talked to #Rangers GM Chris Young. He doesn’t expect many more roster additions. Said club will remain open on Jordan Montgomery but also said TV uncertainty beyond this season is a factor. Wild that Montgomery will wind up on a team that is not the Red Sox or Rangers.
  2. I don't believe the two situations are comparable.
  3. ERC is still young, but he's not holding velo and missed a lot of last season. SoxProspects have been very bearish on him recently. At one point, he was about 10 points higher in their rankings.
  4. I checked on Quora, it wasn't answered there either.
  5. Ok, they took money to throw games. Seems bad! Worse than what Rose did and what Rose did was really bad. Astros stealing signs is akin to what the Jays were doing in the Sky Dome back in the late 90's/early 00's according to various reports and what was openly stated on Red Sox broadcasts at the time. The Astros just beefed up that operation.
  6. Starting over? They didn't do a complete tear down of the system. They just swapped Bloom for Crag. Crag then came in and is going to add to the pitching development. The positive steps with Bloom were: hoarding draft picks and..... What else did he actually do? So far, the 2020 draft hasn't panned out. The 2021 draft relies heavily on Mayer who struggled last season, while others drafted near him have done great (Jordan Lawlar). If Roman Anthony isn't an everyday player, the 2022 draft is a complete miss.
  7. Please, sir... Don't.
  8. Betting on losing a game is worse.
  9. Going over the CBT and causing the QO comps to get f***ed HURTS the rebuild at the expense of the MLB team.
  10. @SmittyOnMLB Red Sox’ Kenley Jansen has lat soreness, sidelined from throwing for now
  11. Dumb owners who don't know how to manage their money!
  12. In this specific instance it would be (a) since nobody saw McGuire do it except for the cop.
  13. For catchers above 200 PA's, both he and McGuire were outside the top 30. The average starting catcher would be a 2 fWAR guy like Jansen in TOR. Only one catcher had 2 fWAR last year with less than 97 wRC+. Wong just k's too much and bb's too little for a guy without much in game pop.
  14. O'Neill should match it, but his injury history shows he'll be out for half the season. Undetermined what Abreu will do for act 2.
  15. Average ticket price in 2006: 46.50 Average ticket price in 2023: 63.00 (35% increase) Payroll increased 45% over the same time period. It looks like Henry is taking on more cost and less revenue! However, the Red Sox only got about 25M from national tv back in '06, that number was up to about 100M in '23.
  16. Because Bloom wasted a bunch of money while not competing in '22 and '23. If Bloom had actively shopped his players and gotten under the CBT in '22, he'd probably still be here.
  17. Casas, yes. Wong, no. I think we've seen what we've seen from Wong. He's athletic and has a strong arm and pop time, but his framing and blocking sucks. If he's going to continue to not hit, he should be replaced. The tools he carries behind the plate show me why he was initially projected as a UTIL guy, but his bat just isn't there to carry that position.
  18. Verdugo wasn't great, but he was a 98 wRC+. He is being replaced by O'Neilll and some younger guys that we don't really know what to expect from.
  19. The real problem(s): (a) they took away the trough urinals ( they took away the coke bottles above the monster © the ketchup is bad now (d) none of the above (e) all of the above (f) a and b (g) a and c (h) b and c
  20. You disagree with all my points. That's nothing new.
  21. And I don't think either will be impactful MLB starters due to control issues.
  22. On paper, the rotation is slightly worse and only gets better if the pitchers improve under Bailey. The defense should be good because Masa will be at DH more, Story has more SS reps and potential Rafaela in CF. Offense looks worse due to loss of Duvall, Turner and Verdugo. Need improvements from Story and Masa to offset the losses.
  23. Cora Watch Day 1: Skipping practice today due to "stomach bug."
  24. @AndreesBolivar Per sources I can confirm the report that places Edward Cabrera close to joining to Pittsburgh Pirates.
  25. If they were invested in Raffy, they'd be building around him rather than wasting a few years while he's under contract.
