  1. He's a mid rotation guy. Sale was the leader. It's not really a like kind exchange. I think they still need someone to lead the staff.
  2. Doesn't matter if he Verdugo has a big year. His stats in Yankee Stadium 3 have nothing to do with what he'd do here. It means nothing. I'm sure some people will try to make it into something, but it's meaningless. He's a guy who was content to play for 3 last place Sox teams and show up late. He's a loser. We don't know how well Giolito will pitch, but there's near certainty that he can take the ball every 5th day. Bailey did a great job in SF, so we need to have a little faith that Giolito can improve on his '23 stats or at least replicate his first half stats.
  3. It's like pornography. You know it when you see it.
  4. Freili Encarnacion isn't bringing back a FRONTLINE starter.
  5. You must be the youngest person on here then. The rest of us will have to run you down with our walkers...
  6. Wait til next year used to be what fans said. For billionaires to say it, it's down right rotten.
  7. No, they are throwing prospects at the fans this year.
  8. You'll be disappointed to learn that it's not there anymore.
  9. I need them to "be in" on Stroman for about a week just for the reaction from certain posters on here. They probably still need to grab Teoscar and a starter better than Giolito.
  10. At what cost though?
  11. I agree depending on the money. He is solid when healthy. Wonder what his medicals look like?
  12. Yes. Trading Verdugo was a gift to Cora. Lack of hustle and showing up late isn't great for overall morale. Verdugo was very quick to show his stripes when he through Cora under the bus after being traded. Trading Sale and signing Giolito should help provide the rotation more guaranteed innings. How can you build a rotation around Sale if you expect him to miss 10 starts?
  13. My worry is that they didn't do enough of a purge after Bloom left.
  14. "Consistently get outs without k's." Both '22 and '23 were below average BABIP years for Wacha. What was the consistency there? Seems more like luck to me! xFIP > (ERA- + WHIP)
  15. They need to acquire their rotation guys through other means for now. Maybe Connelly Early can develop over the next few years? Maybe Monegro can add some velo? Right now, the farm is barren of real starting prospects.
  16. He's Blake Snell if Blake Snell took the ball every 5 days.
  17. They have quality pitching, but the vast majority of it will be in the bullpen. Even guys like Perales and Wikelman may wind up in the bullpen when they get to BOS or transition there eventually. Aside from Bello, the only other starting prospects that are close are Fitts (who we haven't seen) and Gambrel (who is a 5th starter at best).
  18. Them having Valdez on the bench in BOS is wild and wrong.
  19. It worked with Adrian Beltre.
  20. In MiLB, he played every position but CF (he even played C!). He's terrible everywhere. All he can do is hit lefties. He's a short platoon DH.
  21. Abreu OPS'd 929 in AAA. What else does he have to master there?
  22. Again, Valdez seems unlikely since he only plays 2B (poorly) and has extreme splits, but shares the same handedness with the guy you'd most like to DH (Masa). Assuming Rafaela is the starting CFer, Abreu would be the 4th OFer. McGuire - C Refsnyder - 1B/LF Reyes - 2B/SS/3B Abreu - OF Starting: C - Wong 1B - Casas 2B - Grissom SS - Story 3B - Raffy RF - O'Neillll CF - Rafaela LF - Duran
  23. 6'0" Refsnyder has 27 starts at 1B. Just make him the backup 1B and have Casas sit only against LHP. Problem solved.
  24. He's being paid 16M AAV by the Royals to not pitch a full season. He's a decent pitcher, but can't stay healthy. His innings are what defines his overall value to me.
