  1. BTV rated this trade as FAIR. I'd say it has a 99.2% chance of happening within the next week. I should probably post it on Reddit. Devers Valdez for Meyer Meyer
  2. It's planting season for me. I'm redoing a few beds in my front yard and most of the backyard. My son just started getting into mycology so there are pots of mushrooms all over the place too.
  3. Then make your projection about the Sox getting into the playoffs and talk about that. Maybe others will join in?
  4. Sox's SP was 22nd to AZ's 14. What's the point in having a shutdown bullpen if you're already behind. Verdict: NOT a WS pitching squad.
  5. 1. As fans, some of us think the Sox are still in it when reality is they are a long shot ('22 and '23). 2. Now with the expanding playoffs, the Sox have a better chance to get in as a bad playoff team and get smoked in the WC. What's the benefit in that? If the team isn't at least as good as the '21 squad, they need to sell some of these short term contracts.
  6. We can sit here and talk about nothing since there are no games to talk about and the roster isn't finalized? Is that what you want?
  7. Sox were 16th in wRC+ last year. Arizona was 18th. That's a WS caliber offense, baby!
  8. Reagan was president the last time Franco played SS. He'd probably have to play 3B and you slide Devers over who has a career 0 DRS at SS. Not great, but not Kiké bad either!
  9. Well, there's not much going on and Giolito's contract is one of the newest things to discuss.
  10. I don't think teams offer QO's expecting the player to take it. I was just saying the upside of going for it and keeping Giolito is that you can get a QO. The trade return probably is better, unless you're Chaim Bloom.
  11. Qualifying Offer?
  12. He greenlighted the Sale contract because it was much smaller and he hated that it was signed right after. He openly bitched about it.
  13. If the offer was 265, he still would have gotten more as a FA with the Dodgers. The Sox were still intending on lowballing Mookie the way Xander was and the way Lester was.
  14. What's your definition of "hunt?" If they are 3-5 games out of the WC? If they hold a WC spot? If the team is looking really solid, the young core is playing great and all the pitching is holding up, they could make a case to be buyers at the deadline. That's a lot of IFs though. It's more likely there are a few holes and the team is just not quite ready for a run. If this team is in the same position they were in '22 and '23, they need to sell. Both times, they were on the outside looking in and the team was on a noticeable downturn.
  15. Adalberto, c'mon down!
  16. We're gonna need you to move the 45 yard field goal try back about 20 yards...
  17. Money for nothing and your prospects for free.
  18. Best case is he's pretty good, but not great and doesn't opt out. Then he has a CY caliber season in '25 when the Sox march to the playoffs.
  19. I heard that the Sox are looking to trade Trevor Story. Think they can pull it off without eating salary? If so, who plays SS? It would have to be an acquisition.
  20. Yeah, about that...
  21. His quality is much higher on his own baseball show. He'd be goddamn awful at 5:59, then at 6:01 he'd be good after Felgie left. His voice was 10% less annoying too.
  22. Yup! Don't buy a Giolito jersey kids. Sox won't be signing his next contract.
  23. Also, while Grissom struggle in a SSS in MLB last year, in AAA he hit 920 with 50% of his games in a pitcher friendly environment and being young for the level. If he didn't lose eligibility, he'd be a top 50 prospect most likely.
  24. If Gio maxes out in '24, they better deal him because he's opting out.
  25. There is a notable pattern. I hold the faults of this organization at Henry's desk first and foremost. He put the Sox into a tailspin that Crag is now trying to pull them out of. Unfortunately, the fans are taking the brunt of it.
