  1. Story - SS Rafaela - CF O'Neillll - LF Abreu - RF That makes the defense a lot better IMO. There are questions about 2B still, but Ron Washington and others who know Grissom believe that he'll be at least an average 2B which would be much better than they had last year at 2B.
  2. Red Sox acquire lots of MLB pitchers, they are just back end of the bullpen guys.
  3. The season starts with a 10 game West Coast swing. They were eliminated by the schedule makers. The times for the first 3 games of the year: 10:10 PM 9:40 PM 9:40 PM Seven of the first ten games start after 9:30PM. WTH?
  4. Not waiting until ST anymore to judge the roster then?
  5. Nothing has really changed in the overall projections though. Yanks got Soto, but the pitching is rough. Rays lost Glasnow. O's added nobody. TOR has done nothing. The only difference is that the Yankees added one year of Soto. Should that really make the Sox wet their pants right now? They were already towards the bottom of the division anyway and haven't added much (Gio and minor trades). If they also signed Yamamoto, would they project to be 4th? 3rd? Not 2nd or 1st for sure.
  6. Acquired 7 SP's in two years. Sox could never!
  7. The last few years, the Sox have gone cheap. Wonder why the cheap guys aren't producing great results?
  8. Rangers had the 4th largest payroll last season at 251M (only 5M less than the Padres).
  9. '22 Semien 7/175 Seager 10/325 Gray 4/56 '23 Eovaldi 2/34 Perez 3/39 deGrom 3/120 Heaney 2/20 in season: Chapman, Scherzer, Montgomery trades
  10. Getting to the stadium is a big time pain in the ass. The parking lot was easier than driving around the Fens for a half hour looking for street parking.
  11. Wouldn't it be better for them to win the WS and prove to the other owners (specifically the Red Sox) that spending works?!?
  12. Dodger Stadium does have good churros. They also have way better beer options than Fenway. Once the construction is finished on Lansdowne, the view at Fenway will be much shittier too.
  13. Yeah, if money is the same, they are going to go to a bigger media market where they can make more money outside of baseball. Sox need to offer more than NY or LA. The same thing can be said about the Mets right now though. Seems like players are more than happy to use them to just go to the Dodgers. The Mets have a bigger checking account and bigger media market and same s***** weather. If you want to be sure to sign a guy, offer the MOST money!
  14. notin is getting those kickbacks! Maybe coupons for BOGO Fenway Franks.
  15. My source is telling me the are NOT signing Soler.
  16. Right now, players aren't coming here because the Sox aren't offering competitive contracts. It has nothing to do with the state of the Sox or the weather. The only guy who stiffed them was Eflin who went to the Rays to play closer to home for the same money.
  17. @MacCerullo The Red Sox have announced that tickets for Opening Day and all games through June 5 will go on sale Thursday.
  18. The Snell thing has been floated off and on over the offseason and then was mentioned as being very likely per a REDDITOR. If they are looking to sign a RH DH, why not just bring JD back?
  19. Sox could always spend more since their fans have to spend more?
  20. It's a combination of money, team quality and location. Money is most often the significant factor in the decision.
  21. Speier characterizes the Red Sox as “lurking” on Imanaga but indicates they may not be among the most involved suitors.
  22. Seth Lugo came up just because nothing else was going on then IMO. Teoscar was a clear need and the Sox were noted to have been in discussions with him. Same with Yamamoto. I think the only other FA's that the Sox expressed interest in were ERod and Maldonado. Guys left on the board that the Sox have expressed interest in are Paxton, Imanaga, Soler, Merrifield and Snell (maybe?).
  23. Soler is fine, but they are boxed in with Masa on the roster.
  24. I discount them being interested in retaining fans at this point.
  25. I just don't think Masa should be out in LF as much as he was last year. 84 GS was clearly too much for him. If they sign Soler, he'd have to play even more LF than before if Soler is fulltime DH.
