    Depressing. It is a crisis that strikes at the very heart and soul of our national will. We can see this crisis in the growing doubt of the meaning of our own lives and in the loss of unity and purpose as Red Sox Nation.     The majority of FA's that had 2 fWAR last season have signed elsewhere. From the guys that are left, who would the Sox realistically sign that could make this year not a bridge year? Montgomery Bellinger Snell Chapman Stroman Kershaw Belt Clevinger JD Theories about "just trade for a guy" will not be allowed due to BTV hate speech.

    At this point, it seems like it's 99% a bridge to '25 and pray the prospects turn out. How will they construct the rotation next year? Who knows!

    Even if you ignore the "full throttle" portion of the quote, him saying saying "we know we have to be competitive next year" and them giving us another bridge year is embarrassing.

    Ownership doesn't care about 2024, year 1 of this deal. Ownership cares about years 2-6 of this deal. We are currently on a very long bridge and I don't know when the exit will be.

    Bad contract. He was likely to get injured was a ticking time bomb performance wise. The only suspect was Pedroia's health!

    You're missing a lot o the backstory though. We spent YEARS litigating whether or not to trade JBJ every year. When he was finally gone, it was like a veil had been lifted on the forum. When Bloom brought him back, it was just all so confusing due to the layers of conversations we had over the years. I'd be like Henry bringing Bloom back next season as Sam's Assistant.

    JBJ's playing weight was 196. He did hit his weight every year he played in BOS, FYI.

    For the most part, the majority of the board didn't like this trade. At best, it was wait and see. Sox should have held onto Renfroe. Some of the shine from the '21 season would have worn off eventually though.
