  1. They gotta extend Casas at all costs... @BOSSportsGordo Triston Casas was talking on the broadcast about his big breakfast and pregame protein shake, and says he feels light before the game. @karlravechespn: “What about that makes you feel light?” Casas: “The trip to the bathroom right before the game.”
  2. Without knowing the terms, it seems like what we'd project for him going forward at his current rate. If he doesn't get any better, it's a little bit of an overpay. It's a good deal though.
  3. @itsbrianbarrett The Sox finally did something good... Bello 2023 56.2% groundball rate - 3rd among starters (minimum 150 innings) Launch Angle (4.9 degrees) - 4th Getting better against lefties is the next step .313/.361/.522/.883
  4. @redsoxpayroll Pending additional details, it would look like this for CBT purposes: 2024 - $9.167MM (instead of ~$790k) 2025 - $9.167MM 2026 - $9.167MM (Arb 1) 2027 - $9.167MM (Arb 2) 2028 - $9.167MM (Arb 3) 2029 - $9.167MM (FA 1) 2030 - $21MM (club option) (FA2) He'll be 31 when the option year of the deal ends. We'll likely get more info about real yearly cash, but spreading out the AAV like this means we'll carry the burden higher for 2-3 seasons while benefitting, potentially nicely, every year after. Everything comes back to performance, but if he pitches well, you have a cost-controlled piece exactly in line with the core coming up (6 seasons each, likely starting in 2025).
  5. @redsoxpayroll Updating the payroll projections, Bello is now 6th on the team in terms of highest AAV, and the team sits at ~$214MM, which is ~$23MM below the first CBT threshold. Damn, they are at the dreaded 215M already. No Casas extension until next season I guess?
  6. @ChrisCotillo Not that Kiley needs confirming but source confirms these numbers. In agreement.
  7. @kileymcd Right-hander Brayan Bello and the Boston Red Sox are in agreement on a six-year, $55 million contract extension that includes a seventh-year club option for $21 million, sources tell ESPN. The Sox lock up the 24-year-old into the 2030s.
  8. That's BTV's value though. Why pay him 11.5 AAV now when he's not getting that in ARB until year 3 at least?
  9. When you go to Fenway this season, air sickness bags will be located at your seat when you arrive just in case.
  10. Cron has generally been healthy and even his bad season last year of 82 wRC+ is better than what we've seen recently out of Dalbec. Cron would demolish AAA pitching if he was there for very long. He'd put up Judge '22 numbers IMO.
  11. Whoever is writing this series has a sick sense of humor.
  12. Red Sox manager Alex Cora told reporters Thursday that outfielder Tyler O’Neill is battling left calf tightness and won’t accompany the team on its trip to the Dominican Republic this weekend. In addition, right-hander Zack Kelly has been shut down with a sore oblique.
  13. Maybe they trade Grissom? Who knows?
  14. Trade bait! We already have CJ Cron!
  15. 2b? DH? Trade? Probably trade.
  16. @bradfo Per source, Red Sox do not have insurance on Lucas Giolito’s contract Told you. They can't afford the insurance!
  17. @bradfo Triston Casas said he has not re-engaged in extension talks with the Red Sox as of yet. “I don’t know if they’re trying to finalize (Bello), but there have really been no talks, no developments, whatsoever”
  18. ARB years plus 2 years of control after is ideal. Agree.
  19. 2 additional years of Bello would be ideal.
  20. Why 5 years? That doesn't buy out any FA years.
  21. I read that the only hold up on Bello is a routine physical and that the terms have been agreed upon PER AN INDUSTRY SOURCE.
  22. If that sweeper is still working early on, I'd do it. Maybe even think about doing it anyway depending on what he'd take.
  23. Not trading Paxton was really DUMB. The only guys I'd look to trade early on would be O'Neillll, Martin and Jansen. I think you need Pivetta for the innings and if he's pitching well you extend him for 2 more years.
  24. I feel like they'd DFA Dalbec to put Cron on the 40 man. No other reason to add him. If they are pushing pitchers to the 60 day IL, why replace them with hitters? More likely they add Joely and Luetge.
