  1. He just has to adjust his approach enough to keep pitchers honest.
  2. @ChrisHenrique San Francisco Giants are releasing JD Davis, per @susanslusser Would be a better option than Cron or Dalbec IMO.
  3. Depends on how well Grissom is playing. Trade Mayer for in a package for an ace?
  4. @tylermilliken_ Tanner Houck so far this spring: 8 IP, 4 Hits, 1 ER/R, 9 K, 2 BB Alex Cora noted his velocity jump early in camp. Has topped out at 97 in games. Between him, Whitlock, and Winckowski, he’s been the standout. If Houck can get his k/9 back up to where it was a few years ago, this rotation will be better off.
  5. 1. Hide it under a bushel? No! 2. I watched Moneyball again last night and it's so funny that dingdong is the only non-A's player mentioned in the movie.
  6. He makes great plays in the OF and has had actual success at the MLB level previously. ST results are somewhat important, but the coaches see a lot more behind than scenes and not just what is happening in the games.
  7. I agree. It looks rough at the moment, but we may even see some dividends at the MLB level this season. The team won't be in the playoffs and most of us may not be watching, but some of the pitchers may find themselves in a much better position with the new staff in place.
  8. His brain is constricted from the dumb newsboy hat he wears.
  9. @BOSSportsGordo Very nice outing today from Cooper Criswell: 3.2 IP, 2 H, 0 BB, 0 ER, 4 Ks Continues to make a case for a rotation spot.
  10. We'll have another CBO to complain about when they're finally good.
  11. Yup, Bloom should have done more trades like that at the '22 and '23 deadlines.
  12. He was good as a fill in, but for 162 it's rooooooooooooooough... Him and OB are not a good combo at all.
  13. The book will go around and pitchers will just not give him much to hit or put it where he can't get any power behind it when it gets in play.
  14. MLB '23: 241 AVG, 281 OBP, 667 OPS, 8 XBH in 28 G. Is there an XBH/G stat I should be following? If he can't get that OBP above 300 at the MLB level, it's not great.
  15. @NoahBergerMedia #Marlins RHP Edward Cabrera is getting an MRI on his shoulder today after getting scratched from yesterday's start with right shoulder tightness. Per Skip Schumaker
  16. We're gonna need 7-8 years to do it the "right way."
  17. I think Anthony will still progress as a CFer for now. It should get him ready to play RF in Fenway someday or take over for Rafaela if Rafaela's bat doesn't develop at all. Has Dalbec only played 1B this spring?
  18. Abreu is very athletic and has a really good arm. I'm not sure where to put Duran since runners tag up from 2B on him when he catches fly balls in LF.
  19. I don't think they'll extend Pivetta, but if he really shows off his sweeper again, he could make a good payday in FA. Whitlock just has not be impressive at all since his injury in '22. Sox need to figure him out. I don't know why they are screwing around with him. Fitts isn't slotted as the #7 right now. I was just bringing him up as a guy that could be something eventually. I agree with the guys you have ahead of him, but don't think Wikelman or Gambrel pitching this year means disaster. They're already slotted for last place. I'm not sure giving other guys emergency starts or Wikelman advancing to MLB earlier than expected is a bad thing.
  20. I think he's solid and should be at least a back end of the rotation guy for the Sox for the next few years.
  21. Need a different owner to do that. Rafaela is a good, not great, player. There's no harm to the player or the fans. 80% of Sox fans won't notice if he's not there in April.
  22. Sox are looking at Houck/Whitlock/Crawford and thinking that they can give them what Lorenzen can do for much less cost. I just don't think Whitlock is going to workout and they are going to need SOMEBODY to fill innings. Reports out of MiLB camp are very good about Fitts, but that's not an option until much later this season if at all.
