  1. Will they do a preemptive extension to Teel, Anthony or Mayer the way some other teams have?
  2. 2015 - 5 Aces 2024 - 13 Aces
  3. No, they are going to fix all of their pitchers by turning them all into starters I think.
  4. I believe they extended Manny and Thome, but not Lofton? I hated CLE back in the day. That damn Joey Belle.
  5. At this point, Van Belle is just a warm body.
  6. I'm sure he'll sign someone. You get what you pay for.
  7. They'll need to decide between Altuve and Bregman. The big problem is that their top prospects don't play either position. I have no idea what their plan is. Maybe they are just going to spend for the next few years and try to win as much as possible with the current group and take the payroll hits and other implications?
  8. I wasn't saying spending this year. I'm saying they need to manage the budget going forward so they can't buy guys like Monty. They will need to extend young players though because that's what other teams have done to manage payroll efficiently.
  9. Off NESN or off Red Sox broadcasts? That's 2 different things.
  10. Right now, doesn't seem like a lot of offers on the table for 60% of the market?
  11. Right now, the starters in AAA look pretty weak especially once you move Winckowski back to the pen. Max Castillo Brandon Walter Richard Fitts Grant Gambrell Brian Van Belle
  12. Realistic is 75 Optimistic is 80 I think the team already seems pretty similar to what they had last season for the most part with a slight downgrade in the rotation Sale & Paxton vs Giolito. If they add another arm that pushes Houck to the pen, I'd probably change my mind.
  13. Monty is good. Masa will have a comeback year. The only question is we don't know the budgetary restrictions going forward. If Henry has a strict limit well under the CBT, I don't know if I want to spend 25M+ on Monty for 5-6 years. It would tie up too much of what I need to spend towards a true ace and extending younger players. There's just different math involved when you have a miserly owner.
  14. You are wildly overstating what Kelly provided to the team.
  15. The Sox were Pedro's third chance. Sorry to say everyone! Dude was basically a poor dog left at a shelter when we found him.
  16. Criswell doesn't have a big split difference between starting and relieving, but I don't see him impacting the bullpen anyway. He's a AAA guy to me. Winck should be in the pen 100%.
  17. Tom has zero power in this ownership group. They only put him in front of a microphone because Henry won't show up.
  18. For the Sox, it has less to do with interest rates and more to do with the state of television. They used to make a ton of money off of NESN and got a lot of views, but that has fallen off even when the team has been successful.
  19. It was Larry that wanted to take down the Evil Empire. He was front and center. Henry was in the background even then.
  20. Wormtongue’s full quote: “When we have two sucky seasons like we’ve had, these are natural questions. We have to take them. But I can tell you, as a kid who grew up less than a mile from Fenway Park, if you think for one second that we aren’t passionate, committed, dedicated to the Boston Red Sox, you’re wrong, you’re a liar, and I’ll correct you on it, because it’s total BS. We are committed. We are frustrated. We take it personally. It angers us when we don’t win. And we understand that there are natural questions. But look back in history – these questions come up when we’re not performing at the Major League level. We have to perform at the Major League level, and those questions will go away. But to say that the attention or the commitment or the care isn’t there is just flat wrong.”
  21. Actually… “You’re a liar if say ownership isn’t committed.” - Sam Wormtongue Kennedy
  22. Werner on NESN with @TomCaron "Too focused on two words (full throttle). You're a journalist, you know, that's a little overblown. Full Throttle is the way I live my own life, it's my mantra. I don't accept mediocrity, we as a group don't accept mediocrity." We’re too focused on two words (wins, losses).
  23. If they were getting a real ace and extending them, trade whatever. With the guidelines ownership has issued, may as well just put up a s*** MLB team for a year and take your lumps. If the prospects don’t work out, this org is in big trouble.
  24. It’ll work for a few years due to the allure of Fenway, but they’ll get under 30k average in the next few years if they continue to not put money in.
  25. Ownership has a long term plan that will change at a moment’s notice.
