  1. If Story can't really hit, I don't see another team wanting to trade for him. Mayer is good at SS, but not as good as Story right now. I think they are ultimately stuck with Story unless they are going to eat a lot of his salary. I don't know how willing Henry will be to do that. With Sale, it was for just one year. Also, Story has an opt out after 2025 which hurts his trade value to any other team that actually wants him around for a few years. The best problem to have is Devers playing a solid 3b, Story hitting well, Grissom finding his feet at 2b and Mayer making a lot of noise in MiLB.
  2. Grissom is a pre-ARB player. If he shows a little bit this year, but Sox really believe in the big 3, maybe they move on from Grissom next offseason or push him to the OF. He's a RHB and they don't have a lot of those guys.
  3. His promotion would be to AAA. I don't think they are going to rush him to MLB. So far, he's really struggled with offspeed stuff and with the trend in MLB, he'd get eaten alive. I think there's zero chance we see him in BOS this year. At best, he'd come up at the end of the year and play 2B/SS/3B as a fill in. I don't think they'd hand him a starting role. His most professional PA's in a season is 424. I think they'll take it easy on him due to his ongoing injury issues.
  4. Yeah, I don't necessarily believe the Mariners would be likely to make that trade. Anthony has too much value to swap in for Mayer. Sox would have to go Bello/Teel/Bleis to match value. I think M's are happy with Kirby and aren't likely to trade him unless another team overpays.
  5. Story already has 2 DRS at SS. Quite a turnaround from what we saw at SS in '23.
  6. Defensively, the Sox are 5th in DRS and 5th in OAA.
  7. Sox are 20th in wRC+. Casas, Rafael, Valdez, Abreu, Dalbec are all under 50 wRC+.
  8. For me, it just showed how much more value Kirby has than Bello. Kirby is a 3/4 fWAR guy. Bello has topped out at 1.6. Kirby already is what we project Bello to be at his ceiling.
  9. Angels just got to play the NL A's who just went 0-7 at home.
  10. PER BTV SPECIAL OF THE DAY Bello Mayer Kirby
  11. And since you are the Buzzarding Police, you will be able to buzzard without restraint AND enforce whatever buzzarding rules you want to against other posters to fit your needs. It's a win/win for you.
  12. You tell me. You're the buzzarding police.
  13. Duran has been fantastic. Rafaela has done Rafaela things in the field. O'Neillll has been great. The Catchers have hit well. The rest of the offense has been slow to get going (Casas, Devers and Story haven't pulled their weight in the middle of the lineup). Bello isn't there yet. I think a lot of people put further projection on him, but I don't think he's going to be a #1. The HR rate should cool down a little though. Jansen is just walking too many people. Joely shouldn't be on the team. The rest of the bullpen receives no complaints from me. Campbell doesn't deserve the one ER (lowest bullpen FIP & xFIP and run was allowed by Joely).
  14. This is a different argument than you running down Kirby just because you didn't know who he was.
  15. Prior to the last start, Sox were one of the better hitting teams against Kirby. He’s a great pitcher. If you don’t think so then you don’t know ball.
  16. A sweep is a sweep. 5-2 after the first 7 is fine by me!
  17. Sox playing this one like a getaway day............
  18. I think they are going to keep giving Abreu AB's because it's only the 2nd series of the year. No real reason to freak out yet. If he's OPS'ing 500 on Memorial Day, then you send him down. For now, the sample sizes are too small to worry.
  19. Dodgers are ranked like 25th, so I don't think it's that big of a factor. The bigger factor: Tatis 164 wRC+ Profar 120 wRC+ Merrill 98 wRC+ Tatis is performing really well and the other two starters aren't underperforming all that much. It's an overall solid grouping. Even if they were discounted by 2 games, they'd be in the top 10. For example, Soto leads the Yanks with 0.5 fWAR, but gets dragged down by -0.4 fWAR from Verdugo and Judge.
  20. @alexspeier Last year, Trevor Story was 0-for-7 against 98+ mph pitches and couldn’t catch up to elite fastballs. For that reason, Tuesday - when he had hits off 98 and 101 mph heaters - represented a potentially significant sign for the Red Sox.
  21. Then we should ignore you because of your poor judgement?
