  1. Sox don’t have the budget for that. Need to use it on SP.
  2. They still need a AAA squad.
  3. He wasn’t a good 2b and they wanted to utilize his athleticism in the OF.
  4. Moving Masa back to LF is a terrible idea.
  5. No idea.
  6. In order to get Chapman on the roster, they'd have to trade Masa, Devers or Casas.
  7. Some have suggested that Rafaela fill in at ss and 2b. I don't see the point. He should only play CF.
  8. https://www.nbcsportsboston.com/mlb/boston-red-sox/tomase-chaim-bloom-era-has-hit-a-new-low-with-sox-current-product/292008/ It's a good one. I agree with the premise, but the execution isn't great. He rags on Sale (two more years of this???). He complains how Martin has pitched worse than his numbers. A fair article could have made his point, but this goober was clearly just pounding the keyboards because of how putout he was having to watch the Red Sox for a job. Poor guy!
  9. I didn't realize there was an added benefit!
  10. Makes no sense to have Rafaela on the roster as a UTIL guy. Starting CF or sent to AAA.
  11. Only in an emergency. Not in a planned start.
  12. Here's Cron having a big day against some Sox Piggies. https://twitter.com/tylermilliken_/status/1763585429603864612
  13. He carried a 352 BABIP with a 283 AVG at AAA in '22. I think a slight regression wouldn't be terrible. The key is keeping that k's under control.
  14. He hits the ball hard, but that's the only thing he does well offensively. He's not a dead pull hitter so he'd lose a lot of HR's to Fenway. He's ok as a backup, but I'd prefer Dalbec's versatility TBH.
  15. Chapman doesn't make sense for this team without a corresponding position player move.
  16. @ChrisCotillo Red Sox in agreement with CJ Cron, per source. MiLB deal.
  17. If he goes "0 for" then he must be traded right away because he's a bust and won't hit as good as last year.
  18. Return to tradition. All managers must dress like Connie Mack.
  19. The record for most innings post TJS is David Wells at 3,439. I couldn't find the study you referenced, just studies that suggest innings limits aren't necessary post-TJS.
  20. At this point, wouldn't Snell and Monty be limited for the first week or two of the season?
  21. He'll look good in short stretches and then just blow up in the next appearance.
  22. notin has a theory that post TJS guys only have 600 innings in their arms. Monty is at 574.
  23. Just because a prospect is ranked in the top 3, doesn't mean the prospect is a great. Chavis was a top prospect at a time the system was in disarray. He has carved out an MLB career which counts for something. Espinoza flamed out due to injury. He was also ranked top 20 by Baseball America, so it's not like SoxProspects was on an island.
  24. He missed two seasons due to TJS. Aside from that, he's pitched full seasons every year since he's been signed.
