  1. A big difference is that baseball currently has an antitrust exemption.
  2. I wouldn't mind if if they limited the amount of active players per game.
  3. Vampires and mirrors, a classic confrontation.
  4. The collusion that happened in the 80's was on a much greater scale. From 85-86, only 8 FA's switched teams and the average MLB salary decreased.
  5. We only know what has been reported. Snell had a 150M offer that he turned down. Monty wants 7 years, but has turned down other offers.
  6. Yeah, I can't hold out hope anymore. The goodwill is over for me.
  7. Kjerstad, Caminero, Manzardo, Schanuel, Carter
  8. It seemed like he believed the Red Sox, Yankees or Mets would come around and bail him out at the end again. It just didn't happen.
  9. @IanMBrowne Kenley Jansen was again scratched today with lower back tightness. He needs to get right in the next day or two to start the season on the active roster. Starting the year on the IL IMO.
  10. The Dodgers, Phillies, Royals, Giants kept spending. When the Red Sox are outspent by the Pirates, it's a problem with a particular team and not collusion.
  11. The Boras clients were all flawed FA's that were expecting way too much this offseason. Bauer didn't have a contract last year. It's not surprising Urias is unsigned at all. Clevinger? Other unsigned pitchers: Lorenzen Greinke Hill Syndergaard
  12. Tanking, but not for a high draft pick. They may acquire some other prospects via trades, but I think Breslow is using this year to evaluate what he has.
  13. They are the embodiment of the Beetlejuice "just hangin' around" TikTok. They aren't doing anything. They are just there.
  14. In the olden days, the rosters expanded in September. Under the new rules, the rosters don't really allow for a bunch of prospects to appear in 4-5 meaningless games anymore. The only way someone gets called up is if they are actually going to play for a few weeks like Rafaela and Abreu did last year.
  15. Boras held out for too much? Misread the market? The teams he thought were going to pay up don't want to pay big money this year like Henry?
  16. Does that mean one of those three has to be called up this year? I think Anthony is more likely to be called up IMO. If he's raking, he can slide right in on defense. With Teel, the offense is secondary.
  17. He's not getting the 7 years he's floating to the media.
  18. Probably? No. There's a non-zero chance. Less than 10%.
  19. IDK, for a young catcher I wouldn't rush them to MLB. Teel is 22. Rutschman didn't have an MLB appearance until 24. No reason to push it with him. He still has a lot to learn about receiving.
  20. If Murphy was starting, this team was going to be in a rough spot. Last year in AAA Starter: 8.35 ERA, 2.05 WHIP, 36.2 Innings Reliever: 1.69 ERA, 1.19 WHIP, 16.0 Innings Small samples, but he has never really been a good starter.
  21. Not sure it's Meyer's fault that Monty and Snell weren't signed by 3/18. The JD Davis situation is his fault for sure.
  22. If he's playing great this year, he's in WOO in July.
  23. I agree about Alex. He deserves the payday. Henry will throw him under the bus in the paper.
  24. @alexspeier Cora said Kenley Jansen has just enough time to be ready for the season but no margin for delay. “We’re running out of time.” He’s slated to pitch Tuesday, Thursday, Sunday, and one more in Texas. File under: No s***, Sherlock
