  1. That's not what people vote for with the ROY though. It's back of the card stats and whatever metrics and feelings they have. Nobody is going to say "oh, well he's been getting much better each month and should be better than these other guys going forward" when they are voting. The vote doesn't matter enough for voters to get into that detail.
  2. Grissom has a 706 OPS in AAA this year. He has not been good. I wouldn't pencil him anywhere near BOS. Mayer is younger, has more power and is a much better fielder. Grissom wouldn't even be a speed bump. I wouldn't be surprised to see Grissom traded. All he has going for him right now is he's a RHB. "Don't load the team up with rookies... need to make space for veterans like GRISSOM!"
  3. That's history, pal!
  4. Grissom isn't going to be handed the starting role. I think he's going to have to earn it, but other players will leap ahead of him. Seems like a bench bat? Did the Red Sox make the playoffs in 1975?
  5. And if he wasn't horrendous from 4/1 - 5/15.
  6. Not going to get worked up over a 17 game sample. However, it's like 339 since May 25th (60 Games). This is about the same as Dom Smith's over the same period. Lower than Masa's since coming back from injury.
  7. In a different year, he'd be in the conversation. He's not even the best rookie on his team.
  8. @SmittyOnMLB The Red Sox felt good about trading Alex Verdugo because they believed in Wilyer Abeu. Abreu has more extra-base hits (38) than Verdugo (35) in 159 fewer plate appearances.
  9. Anthony in RF. Rafaela in CF. Mayer at SS. Story at 2B.
  10. You can't only trade away players when they are bad. That's when the org gets put in a rough financial position.
  11. I'd rather have Abreu be the DH, so yes.
  12. White C, Turner OF, Ehrhard OF - GRE Tolbert RHP - SAL Everyone else is in Ft Myers (FCL or inactive).
  13. Licensed to kill gophers by the government of the United Nations. A man, free to kill gophers at will. To kill, you must know your enemy, and in this case my enemy is a varmint. And a varmint will never quit - ever.
  14. That's when you should trade them the most.
  15. Hope he mashes through October and the Sox can trade him.
  16. Not sure it was out of necessity. Sogard looked like he was ready in ST. He's now had a hit in each game he has started.
  17. He is not really in the hunt.
  18. Only Valdez and McGuire have lower OBPs than Rafaela's 288 (100 PA's and above). There's a reason he remains the 9th hitter.
  19. 3rd in PA's because he can't take a walk.
  20. Nick Sogard has a 115 OPS+. Trade Mayer.
  21. He should be. He has a terrible split this year.
  22. Abreu is rotated through the OF and get like 25-35% of the reps. Anthony/Duran/Rafaela are the majority of the reps once Anthony is established. No platoons.
  23. Hudson White is a very good defensive catcher so it'll be good for him to work with Rodriguez, Monegro, Paez, Wehunt, Mullins, etc. in Greenville.
  24. @SmittyOnMLB Red Sox 2nd rounder Payton Tolle (LHP) assigned to Florida Complex League 8th rounder Conrad Cason (two-way player) assigned to FCL 9th rounder Hudson White © assigned to High-A Greenville 18th rounder Cole Tolbert (RHP) assigned to Low-A Salem
