  2. Yeah, there's a lot of "decent" but not top end prospects. Nobody that would bring back anything decent at the trade deadline. Fitts is a back end starter. Wikelman is a back end starter, but most likely a reliever. Those are the two guys in the high minors that could be dealt. Perales is too far away. Sandlin is too far away. Sox are probably reticent to give up pitching prospects anyway since their org is hitter heavy.
  3. Yeah, but if you're trading for potential and projection, you're not giving up much for it.
  4. If they are at or near .500, they should sell. IF they are 16 games above .500, they should buy IMO.
  5. B+ Fitts has been good. Weissert has been good. Juidice hasn't pitched yet. They replaced Verdugo on the field via other means.
  6. Yorke is a hit first mediocre 2b with a 737 OPS in his second go around in AA so far. Blaze Jordan was drafted for light tower power, but he's morphed into a contact hitter who struggles with velo. Miguel Bleis has all the tools you would want, but has never put it together. There's a little bit of unluckiness there for sure, but he needs to at least show something in game. The Sox system is highly rated because it has a lot of depth, not because it has a bunch of highly rated guys. Aside from the big 3, I'm not sure there's a lot of trade value there.
  7. @SoxProspects Red Sox affiliate WHIP leaders (15.1 IP minimum)- 5/6 1. Justin Hagenman- 0.98 (AAA) 2. Connelly Early- 1.02 (A+) 2. Blake Wehunt- 1.02 (A) 4. Cooper Adams- 1.07 (A+) 5. Zach Fogell- 1.09 (A+/A) 6. Angel Bastardo- 1.14 (AA) 7. Wikelman Gonzalez- 1.15 (AA) 8. Zach Penrod- 1.17 (AA) 9. Jason Alexander- 1.18 (AAA) 10. Hunter Dobbins- 1.19 (AA) Hagenman may get a call up this year at some point. Early is still showing up strong for a first year starter and may get promoted to POR later this season. Chicken farmer Wehunt is sneaking in well under most people's radar, but he's been slinging it. Bastardo may be trending towards the Winckowski/Murphy role, but still has a decent shot of moving up the ladder. Gonzalez has had a few really rough starts early on, but has turned it on lately. Penrod has that high powered arm that I likened to a Red Sox era Andrew Miller.
  8. O'Neill's defense has been underwhelming to say the least. -2 DRS, -2 OAA, for a guy that came in as "former CFer and GG winner."
  9. Also, none of the backup 1B's have really provided anything: Dalbec, Smith, Cooper... It's been a huge dropoff.
  10. I agree about Casas. Without Casas, this lineup just feels really top heavy. The bottom half of the lineup just seems really weak to me. Short/Hamilton and Rafaela hitting back to back is an easy two outs for opposing pitchers.
  11. Benching Yoshida (or do your plans include the IL stint)?
  12. @jayhaykid 9+ SB and 5+ 3B through first 35 games, Red Sox single season history: 1901 Tommy Dowd 1913 Tris Speaker 1989 Ellis Burks 2024 Jarren Duran
  13. If his hitting hadn't dropped off at the end of the year, nobody would have said s*** about his defense. We've seen far worse out there.
  14. I just wish Statcast went back to the Coco Crap days so that my eye test could be confirmed on his overratedness.
  15. Per Statcast, he's 21st in OF reaction, which is better than Verdugo and Abreu. What he's not good at is his route: 84th in the league. His great speed and quick reaction time overcomes his bad instincts and routing to the ball.
  16. I think Bloom was ready to have him in the pen fulltime as he was put through the ringer with Whitlock previously. Breslow needs to see it for himself. For 2024, we're getting the Whitlock as a starter experiment. I hope it works. He has the stuff for it, but his body doesn't seem like it wants to hold up.
  17. The defense should settle down. The offense has just been too all or nothing so far.
  18. I think it may also take a few start for these guys to get back up to speed. April was most likely the high watermark for the pitching. Unfortunately, it wasn't super great for the offense.
  19. He missed a called strike due to the McGuire steal which lead to a longer AB for Rafaela and ultimately a go ahead HR.
  20. Cora was pissed when Casas tried stealing. I don't think he was super happy about his catcher going for third. IDK. I didn't see any postgame quotes about it.
  21. "I don't really want to listen to a guy who actually used to play the game professionally, I'd rather listen to the guys who get paid to be shitstirrers like CHB." Yup, that tracks.
  22. If the injuries continue, there's zero chance the ERA+ sticks around for the full season.
  23. If ATL is almost as bad as the Sox defensively, the Sox have a chance!
  24. If we're doing SSS, it'd be Zanetello: 1347 OPS, 524 OBP, 6 G, 6 R, 7 H
  25. Lugo is el fuego: 2-2 w 7th HR and BB So I was right saying that Lugo should be the org's hottest hitter?
