  1. A 40 man roster move would need to be made if Luis Guerrero is called up.
  2. Knowing how long this thread will go, I bet some sort of injury will happen before we're done with the convo.
  3. Hard to do anything more than a 2 for 1 trade unless you're adding in non-40 man guys. Only difference would be if the Sox are really blowing it up and trading legit starting pieces that are fitting on any roster and not middle relievers and backup role players.
  4. "Well, if the Sox kept Sale, they had an option to keep him for 2025 so we'll just have to keep this thread going through 9/30/25!"
  5. We'll have to wait for SteAImer600 to do that.
  6. It's fine. Not like he's a bad prospect and we're trying to put a 30th ranked guy in the top 10.
  7. I think they have another option year so they may just keep him around for SS/2B insurance until the kids are ready.
  8. To me, it makes sense to rank Meidroth ahead of Cespedes because Meidroth seems to have some MLB tools that could get him in games this week if the Sox wanted him there. He could fill in at 2B/3B/fake SS and show a decent batter's eye. Would he still have an 800+ OPS? Probably not. However, I'd bet that he could do better than Reyes' 716 from last year. If he's Brock Holtish in terms of production, that's a great outcome. Cespedes is a player without a position right now. It's undetermined if he can stay in the IF. If he moves to the OF, there's even more adjustment for the glove. His bat is good, but his body isn't going to fill out anymore than it already has. Is he on the Jasson Dominguez track where he can maximize his body type or is he just a bulky short guy? Right now, Cespedes is just so far away that almost anything could happen in his development. Meidroth is already on the doorstep.
  9. Move on? I think they have another 50 more pages of posting to get through before we can really get to the meat of the issue.
  10. The Ying Yang Twins of TalkSox.
  11. What the?!?!
  12. It would be more about Devers falling below Duran than Duran passing Devers IMO.
  13. I see him as a replacement for the David Hamilton bench role.
  14. The only guy I've heard mentioned that has leadership qualities is Kyle Teel.
  15. At some point, his 866 OPS in AAA has to mean something. He's a solid player with a skillset that is clearly missing from the '24 Sox.
  16. If Lorenzen shows up to Sox camp, there's no telling what Bailey does to Lorenzen's elbow! Maybe the Sox are even worse trotting out Lorenzen as it pushes their Game 5 starter (Houck) to the pen for the year!
  17. SEA also has a surplus of arms and may want a bat like Yoshida. OR NOT.
  18. Meidroth with up arrow = TOP TEN LFG!!!
  19. He's young and toolsy. Right now, I think there's an issue with Bleis' swing as he's hitting too many infield popups. I think scouts rushed to grade him too high too soon. I don't think he's the next Gilberto Jimenez/Antoni Flores to flame out though. He should at least show more promise and make his way through the system. Not sure he's going to meet the hype he once had though.
  20. So they end up at 81-81 instead of 78-84?
  21. They want a team that is close enough to .500 to be seen as competitive. Would the currently injured Michael Lorenzen have made a real difference (5.00 FIP)?
  22. If they were just slashing payroll, they wouldn't have signed Giolito. However, they still had 162 games to play and a roster to fill out. Funny how that works.
  23. This is his Jacoby Ellsbury 2011 season. Sell high!
  24. Giolito seemed more likely to be able to last a full season than Sale. The rest of the Sox arms didn't have the history to show that they could hold up over 162 and we have seen what has happened to them in the 2nd half.
