  1. He watched every Price start and said "Yuck."
  2. He was tightfisted BEFORE he signed Price! Are you forgetting that he lowballed Lester? Are you forgetting all the players they dumped from the 2004 lineup? How about the cameo at the end of Moneyball where he was courting Billy Beane because he wanted to solely save money?
  3. If I had to correct your posts, I'd have 23,839 more posts. I'll leave that to the professionals.
  4. At least you can admit your bias.
  5. I'd like to give him the credit for misremembering, but nah...
  6. What the hell are you talking about? Lester was traded in 2014 before DD even showed up.
  7. Getting swept in the playoffs shouldn't be a goal of this team. The 2024 Boston Red Sox cannot beat teams above .500. Why buy your way into the playoffs under a delusion?
  8. Why do that for a team that isn't very good right now. Put them over the hump to become an 86 win team? Whoopdeedoo... Aside from Anthony, Mayer and Teel, they don't have guys that would bring much back. Perales and Fitts have some value, but it's much lesser. Trade Guerrero, Jordan, Hickey, Yorke, Bastardo, Castro, Kavadas, Lugo, Paulino, Zeferjahn or other potential Rule 5 guys but you won't get much back. Hell, throw Wikelman in there and you aren't really moving the needle.
  9. If they are 2 games over .500, they shouldn't buy. I think that's about the high watermark for them. They will either be treading water or selling. My guess is that Jansen and Martin are gone pending health. O'Neilll will play out the string as he will be on the IL or have no buyers. Unsure what they will do about Pivetta. Off chance they keep him for QO? IDK.
  10. Uh huh. DD wasn't the guy who let Lester go.
  11. He was fine from 16-18.
  12. Latest SoxProspect podcast downplayed promotions to AAA for Teel/Mayer/Anthony. Teel: don't want to get rid of the MLB depth guys just yet though Teel is ready Mayer: hasn't shown he can hit LHP, also a lot of MLB depth guys in the IF in AAA Anthony: probably won't be ready for MLB early on in 2025 so no reason to rush him to AAA
  13. Wehunt was also promoted to GRE
  14. Ok? I don't think about Mookie except when I log in here or look at baseball cards.
  15. I think they sometimes jump on a hype train too quickly. Drohan in '23 (6 was too high IMO, 28 prior July) Seabold in '22 Jimenez in '20 Flores in '19
  16. 19 - 663 OPS COVID 21 - 702 OPS 22 - 830 OPS (GRE) 23 - 678 OPS 24 - 1069 OPS It's not too surprising he yo-yo'd. He was a high pick when the farm sucked, so he started off high. They gave him the benefit of the doubt for a few years as he was signed young, but through 2021, he hadn't done much. He bounced back with a decent year in 22. He started 22 at 29th, but was pushed up to 15th midseason and stayed there for awhile. He dropped back down once he showed that he couldn't hit in 23 and was completely moved off of SS, which really hurt his profile. I think he bounces back again, but not to the teens quite yet because the system is much better now and the defense is no longer there. He would really have to rake to be higher than 20 and show it in AAA. I think him getting anywhere higher than 25 is a huge win.
  17. Anderson has been awful. I know they still like him, but if he was drafted a few years ago, he'd be working out and waiting for Lowell to start. Lugo was a 50/50 split between 3B/LF last season. He's now completely entrenched in LF. With all the injuries, there'll be room for him to play anywhere in WOO.
  18. On offense: Volpe Stanton Judge Soto Pitching: Cole (DNP) Cortes/Stroman/Rodon/Gil/Schmidt Sox only have Devers and Casas (out) that can compete with the Yanks offensively. Houck and Crawford have pitched as well as the Yankees rotation, but everyone else has been less than. Yankees have a higher payroll. Red Sox did a bad job developing players under Ben and DD. With Bloom, a lot of strides were made, but he drafted HS guys that took longer to develop so they just aren't ready yet. Also, there was no focus on pitching at all until Breslow. Sox are just hopelessly behind right now. It will take a few more years. No reason to be permanently pissed about it since we can't fix the problem ourselves.
  19. Oh and today is Opening Day for the DSL. We did it! We made it all the way there!
  20. Consider who he's been throwing with. 2/30
  21. Yankees are good this year. Red Sox are not good this year. This is unsurprising to all of us.
  22. I know they've been down on Meidroth ever since he's been drafted but the Sox have him playing all over the field and he's still getting on base. I think he's going to get a shot to be a UTIL guy at some point. I don't know if the bat will play with the extreme lack of power, but we'll see.
  23. I think 25 is probably a little high for Lugo. The way I look at the standings is would I trade #25 for #26? Lugo is really a LF only glove now, which really hurts his profile and was repeating a level after struggling mightily for a full year. I don't think they'd push him really really hard. I think being cheeky and putting him at 31 is fine for now.
  24. That only makes you feel better about him leaving.
  25. A horse who has never thrown 180 innings.
