Red Sox need young pitching. Complaining about them swapping their own prospects for like kinds prospects in other organizations to attain said pitching is silly IMO.
Bloom:
Whitlock
Guerrero
Dobbins
Drohan
Penrod
Elmer
Monegro
Paez
Early
Mullins
Dean
Gambrell
At the moment, nobody projects to be more than a backend starter ceiling. A lot of relief arms. Bloom seemed to really go for the high floor/low ceiling arms in the draft. Lots of orgy guys. Maybe Monegro can put it together under the new pitching system?
For all the reasons posted above, I initially questioned the rush and cost of the extension of Rafaela.
I like him as a player, but accept his warts. He’s not going to figure out the plate discipline IMO.
They would have been better off keeping Sale, expecting a partial season and signing Lorenzen and expecting him to pitch about 120 innings. Vaughn Grissom not being the starting 2B going forward is a real kick in the nuts for this deal.
