  1. Back then it was true. They have fundamentally changed that dynamic by getting rid of short season and reducing the amount of players allowed in an organization.
  2. At the time of the trade, Devers had only gotten as far as Salem. I don't think DD had seen Devers at the point.
  3. Which two? Career bWAR: Benintendi - 14.2, 958 Games Moncada - 14.5, 746 Games
  4. He looked good for one season. The fall off was rough. He kept changing with his swing in part due to various injuries. There has been cause for concern. I don't really see "Yorke hate" that notin mentioned. I think it's ok to talk about the faults of various prospects and the likelihood that they get traded prior to Rule 5 drafts. I'm glad that he's turning things around in AAA, but he'll need to do it over a longer time period that a few weeks to really reclaim his value.
  5. Bloated contract deals... That's a horse of a different color. I'll leave that one for moon.
  6. How often are there afternoon games at Fenway during the week? This was a huge point of contention for AGon.
  7. 2016: Moncada, Espinoza, Benintendi
  8. I was just stating why people are skeptical. Over two straight years of mediocre production from what was supposed to be a top prospect whose main tool was his hit tool. I'm not stating he's never done it or can't do it in the future.
  9. 2023: “There were conversations between Chaim and some players, talking about what they thought was needed,” Cora said. “At this time, everybody is a GM, right? I read quotes that we need an arm, I read quotes that we need offensive players. That’s part of it. … At the end of the day, this is where we’re at. “This is the team that we have, and there’s some good news coming up. Chris [sale] throwing yesterday, Trevor [story] is playing a day game after a night game today, we’re excited about that. They’ve got to do their job in the end, that’s the most important thing.” 2022: “Well, I mean, it’s like on New Year’s Eve, 3, 2, 1, fireworks. We get a phone call [that the Deadline is past] and here we go. There’s a lot of excitement,” Red Sox manager Alex Cora said Tuesday. “For how down we were yesterday, there’s a lot of people excited in the clubhouse about keeping some of these guys to make a push. We trust the team. We trust this group. Been there, done that, and now we’ve just got to play good baseball for two and a half months.” Alex Cora is a company man. He wasn't throwing anyone under the bus or really speaking out directly on anything.
  10. I don't think people HATE Yorke. 2022 GRE 668 OPS 2023 POR 785 OPS 2024 POR 691 OPS I think people are rightfully skeptical about his production.
  11. Anthony has the highest ceiling. Teel probably has the highest floor. All three are very good prospects with things that need to be worked on.
  12. Casas will go back to hitting this week. Hendriks throws his first bullpen today.
  13. @itsbrianbarrett Bello Lasts 8 starts 10.6% walk rate - 75th of 78 qualifiers during that stretch .311 OBA - 77th 1.79 WHIP - 78th 7.49 ERA - 78th 5.14 FIP - 69th
  14. I agree about RBI and I do hope he figures it out and can be more than a #9 hitter. I believe more in Rafaela than Bello.
  15. I'm sorry everyone. It's my fault.
  16. Teel will not be a perennial all star. Not sure how Campbell's swing will keep him going over the long haul. Will be interesting to watch.
  17. Rafaela's xWOBA is 259 or bottom 3% in the league. All offensive stats are bottom third or worse (most bottom fifth). He's been lucky in this recent stretch IMO. 818 over the past 103 PA's, but if you break it down: 1040 last 43 PA's 663 previous 60 PA's He's really just been on a roll since the Phillies series.
  18. Have you seen Story's slugging the past two seasons?
  19. Tell that to John Henry who is banking on them.
  20. Kalish's shoulder was never the same after diving for the ball in Pawtucket. It basically was the long slow end of his career. If he was in Boston, it would have never happened. Kalish was the #1 prospect in the system for several quarters and had a higher career bWAR than Hansen.
  21. We're already passed that point. If Houck gets hurt, the season is probably toast. Regardless, Passan is NOT a GM and I don't think he has much of an idea what he's talking about. If Sox want to really compete, I'm not sure what they'd plan. Is Winckowski the addition? Criswell?
  22. It's nice that it's going up. Being under 600 was less than ideal!
  23. @alexspeier Minor Details: Are the Red Sox’ Big Three now a Big Four? Roman Anthony and members of the Sea Dogs have started calling Kristian Campbell "Barry Bonds." "The video looks like it's in fast motion, like it's sped up when he swings."
  24. Henry Owens was no Ryan Kalish. RIP
  25. @BOSSportsGordo Two names that @JeffPassan says the Red Sox should look into if they’re in a position to buy at the deadline: Luis Rengifo (LAA) Pete Alonso (NYM) Rengifo is a switch hitter and arb eligible for 2025.
