  1. The cost was just too high as it always is. You can't wait until the trade deadline to make your team unless you are going to gut your system like the Padres.
  2. Coffey was far away and his numbers were really propped up by one hot stretch. Lugo was LF only and his bat wasn't all that great at AAA. Kavadas is a LHB at 1B behind Casas who struggles with velo and bad defense. No ceiling there. Portes is just far away and might be a relief arm. Yorke was a LF/2B who could hit a little at AAA, but struggled mightily at AA. I have no idea what to think about him. His limits defensively affected his outlook here. If he was able to unlock more power or was a more consistent hitter, I don't think he would have gone to another org. Zef struggled to throw strikes and was Rule 5 eligible. The only time he's ever seen MiLB success was AA this season. Paulino was an ok prospect, but just had no real fit here. If he was here in the DD era, he would have found a way to get some MLB reps due to the lack of options. No real playing time for him. Overall, Portes and Yorke could amount to something eventually, but I think Breslow owed it to the team to add to the bullpen after two deadlines of sitting around.
  3. We need that DOG!
  4. WOO has a new DH playing tonight. Some 6'4" yoga guy? IDK.
  5. Sox also potentially in on Jack Flaherty which could move a rotation guy to the pen.
  6. Wonder what the Yanks are up to? @francysromeroFR Some teams inquiring about OF Alex Verdugo, per sources. Another source doesn't rule out that he could be part of a trade before the deadline.
  7. He has a really good sweeper. Seems like Bailey might be able to work with him and get some short term results.
  8. There's still time for a Mayer deal.
  9. Sims since 4/19: 30.1 IP 33 K 14 BB 2.37 ERA 4.18 FIP
  10. Portes for Sims and DFA Walter.
  11. Doubt Priester is pitching in BOS this season. They are going to keep him in AAA for the extra year of CONTROL.
  12. Pretty much. The org kinda just hung out for a few years. At least we saw some potential this year and break throughs.
  13. The trade deadline deals are really crazy now due to the expanded playoffs. It's the big reason Bloom needed to SELL. Nothing really in AAA to callup.
  14. Yeah, they have a lot of prospects, but the starting pitching prospects really left something to be desired. I'm glad that Breslow has put some effort into shifting the farm in that direction. Sox haven't been able to churn out starters since Masterson/Buch/Lester/et al.
  15. He's pitching very good this season in AAA. He pitched great in AA in '22. He was a top prospect for several years. He just hasn't been able to get the results in MLB.
  16. No, not with Perales being injured for sure.
  17. @alexspeier The Red Sox signed their final 4 picks: LHP Devin Futrell (Vanderbilt 10th rounder), RHP Steven Brooks (11th round, Cal Poly), RHP Brady Tygart (12th round, Arkansas), and LHP Shea Sprague (UNC). For the first time in a draft of >5 rounds, the Sox have signed all their draftees.
  18. Fitts is a backend rotation guy if things break right. Priester could be middle rotation if things break right. Perales might have a slightly higher ceiling than Priester, but I don't know what he'll look like after surgery. Sandlin has great STUFF, but no control whatsoever and struggles to pitch through 4 consistently. Elmer is ok, but hadn't really been challenged at Salem. Portes is most likely the next guy to join this conversation now that Wikleman has fallen back.
  19. Masa: 926 OPS since June 24
  20. Ahead of Fitts IMO.
  21. Why be less concerned? It's all concerning!
  22. Uh oh, we got a Westbrook lover!
  23. @RedSoxPlayerDev Juan Valera hasn't allowed a hit or run in his last 13 IP! In his Salem debut, he finished with 4IP, 0H, 0ER, 2BB, 3K
  24. Are his AAA innings pretend?
  25. @SoxProspects Excellent start by Yermain Ruiz of the DSL Red Sox Red today- 6 IP, 2 H, 0 R, 0 BB, 9 K. The 18-year-old righty has a 1.10 ERA over 32.2 IP with 30 K/12 BB, a 0.80 WHIP and a .130 OBA. He was signed for a $10,000 bonus back in August 2023.
