  1. I will not fight you on Story being a bad contract. I didn't like it from the start. It was a hedge on Xander leaving, but for a player that was already injured. Dumb move. Casas has had a lot of injuries in his time AS HAS MAYER WHO SHOULD BE TRADED!
  2. I'm in the southern extension. The vibes down here must be better. For years, nobody said s*** when I wore a Sox hat. This year, everyone wants to talk about the Sox.
  3. Um, ok.
  4. This is the fuzzy math George W Bush warned us about.
  5. The media market is considered Boston/Manchester for some dang reason?
  6. No reason to add Meidroth et al until they actually need a place on the roster next season. For the offseason, I wouldn't bother adding them.
  7. Hector Velazquez Pedro Ciriaco Andrew Miller Clayton Mortensen Bobby Kielty Kyle Snyder Brendan Donnelly Mark Bellhorn Pokey Reese Dave McCarty Ricky Gutierrez Curt Leskanic Mike Myers Every WS team had their share of dumpster dives. The rules are the rules and the facts are the facts!
  8. Cots isn't very reliable anymore unfortunately. That may be the number prior to this year? IDK.
  9. If you look at media market rankings, the Sox have 11 teams ahead of them. If not payroll or market, how are you judging size?!?!?
  10. The only negative thing I heard about Portes (after the fact!!!) was that his pitch shape was what would lead him to a role in the pen. IDK I think Lugo and Kavadas should make the show at some point, but don't think they'll have a consistent spot there. Yorke is the guy that should get the call and stay there. I don't know if he'll be overly productive, but he should have value to 2nd or 3rd division teams.
  11. They aren't a big market team anymore. Not even top third in the league in payroll!
  12. 90 OPS+ 0.0 bWAR The trade was whatever. He was a fine fill in for the remainder of the year. Trading him after the season seems like the right thing to do as well since he hasn't been very good for SEA.
  13. Moving Kavadas, Yorke and Lugo also makes more playing time available in AAA for when the promotions of Teel, Mayer and Anthony happen in the near future. At some point, there's just not enough room to keep everyone and keep them playing at the right levels.
  14. Yeah, that stuff doesn't matter in the least.
  15. Seems like they are in better position to win games in Aug and Sept this time around though?
  16. You wouldn't know a legit prospect if it s*** down your mouth. The rules are the rules and the facts are the facts.
  17. The Snell rumor was obviously bogus. Why trade for Snell right now?
  18. The cost was just too high as it always is. You can't wait until the trade deadline to make your team unless you are going to gut your system like the Padres.
  19. Coffey was far away and his numbers were really propped up by one hot stretch. Lugo was LF only and his bat wasn't all that great at AAA. Kavadas is a LHB at 1B behind Casas who struggles with velo and bad defense. No ceiling there. Portes is just far away and might be a relief arm. Yorke was a LF/2B who could hit a little at AAA, but struggled mightily at AA. I have no idea what to think about him. His limits defensively affected his outlook here. If he was able to unlock more power or was a more consistent hitter, I don't think he would have gone to another org. Zef struggled to throw strikes and was Rule 5 eligible. The only time he's ever seen MiLB success was AA this season. Paulino was an ok prospect, but just had no real fit here. If he was here in the DD era, he would have found a way to get some MLB reps due to the lack of options. No real playing time for him. Overall, Portes and Yorke could amount to something eventually, but I think Breslow owed it to the team to add to the bullpen after two deadlines of sitting around.
  20. We need that DOG!
  21. WOO has a new DH playing tonight. Some 6'4" yoga guy? IDK.
  22. Sox also potentially in on Jack Flaherty which could move a rotation guy to the pen.
  23. Wonder what the Yanks are up to? @francysromeroFR Some teams inquiring about OF Alex Verdugo, per sources. Another source doesn't rule out that he could be part of a trade before the deadline.
  24. He has a really good sweeper. Seems like Bailey might be able to work with him and get some short term results.
  25. There's still time for a Mayer deal.
