  1. 1/10M is fine! Were there additional years tacked on I didn't know about?
  2. Just keep getting those large contracts like Story, Yoshida and Giolito because they are a big boy team!
  3. A 31 year old pitcher who is having his first stretch of good MLB baseball ever. I don't think that deal was a bargain.
  4. Tommy Edman put up 6.2 bWAR last year. Then Kopech and a bunch of prospects were thrown in. Sox would have had to trade O'Neilll plus prospects to get Fedde. His metrics aren't that great. He's put up numbers, but his xERA and FIP point to regression. Last 5 games: 4.55 FIP. I'm not really excited about trading for guys that are having career years like Fedde or Pomeranz.
  5. @tylermilliken_ I’ll never forget Dom Smith and the month of July. 24 Games - 76 PA .290/.355/.565/.920 3 HR 10 2B 11 RBI .275 ISO 150 wRC+ Those dang d%$&ster d*&es.
  6. 87 G - Masa 3 G - Valdez A little bit of a difference IMO.
  7. IMO, the Sox just weren't sure about Rule 5ing him and wanted to give playing time to Mayer, Meidroth, Campbell and others. Yorke got hot, increased his value and the Sox capitalized. GRE '22: 668 OPS POR '23: 785 OPS POR '24: 691 OPS That they could spin this guy for a 23 year old AAA starter with a 3.21 ERA, 1.07 WHIP, 5.14 K/BB? Count me all the way in! SoxProspects already said he's the second best pitcher in the farm behind Perales. David Sandlin is the same age, but in AA and on a pitch restriction.
  8. Wrong. Yorke was actively pouting in AA this year and putting up bad numbers. Miss me on that. He can go hit 750 and play below average D in PITT. I'll take a flier on a pitcher that has succeeded throughout his career in the minors (unlike '22-'23 Yorke) and just needs to figure it out at the next level.
  9. 700 PA's in AA of mediocrity for Yorke plus lots of injury history and he's more LF than 2B. If that's the prospect you want to lean in on, go for it.
  10. Selected by Pittsburgh in the first round (No. 18 overall) of the 2019 First-Year Player Draft, the right-hander was ranked by Baseball America as a top 100 prospect in 2021 (No. 58) and 2022 (No. 88).
  11. Gasper is an ok catcher, but he's played almost as many games at 1B as C this year. He's just a nice AAA guy. If he gets a cup of coffee, great.
  12. We know that the prices were outrageously high. I think the Sox did fine if the best prospect they let go was Nick Yorke.
  13. If Valdez played Yoshida level defense in LF after only 18 career starts, they would have kept him out there. My guess is that he was bad enough in the 3 starts for WOO that they ended that nonsense.
  14. Who else was available when those guys were picked up?
  15. Add him to the edible names list.
  16. -0.2 bWAR in 1.1 innings.
  17. @alexspeier Sogard will play second vs lefties. Westbrook just wasn't good enough and Sogard is a better defender. Westbrook initially called up since he'd be easier to DFA later on IMO.
  18. Sims activated. Ramirez DFA'd.
  19. Westbrook sent to WOO. Nick Sogard called up to BOS.
  20. Cubbies could be a surprise for the WC.
  21. Early start Bello vs Kirby 1. Jarren Duran CF 2. Wilyer Abreu RF 3. Masataka Yoshida DH 4. Rafael Devers 3B 5. Rob Refsnyder LF 6. Dom Smith 1B 7. Danny Jansen C 8. David Hamilton 2B 9. Ceddanne Rafaela SS
  22. Would Crochet pitch in next year's postseason?
  23. When he first came up? No. From 2015 on? Yes!
  24. Taffy down at the bar with a Miller Lite and a Jack has something important to say!
  25. It's Jorge Benitez time!
