  1. Every non-Cora person is just playing CYA about the it now. It's not a situation that has really been properly audited.
  2. 78 - 84 as it is written
  3. 140 AB's at AAA is not that much further IMO. Also, Yorke played more games in LF than 2B for WOO I believe.
  4. Very believable!!!
  5. At least I go out on a limb to make predictions. Still waiting for yours Mr. I'll Wait Until The Season To Tell You How I Feel.
  6. Well, you know where Martino got his info from then.
  7. Don't even lock old game threads anymore!
  8. He's found that he's started to like Old Red and Madstork posts and he wants to know more about the dark arts.
  9. One of them LOVERS I guess?
  10. Gagne will serve as Papelbon's primary set-up man and will close on days Papelbon needs rest. "We actually love our bullpen," Boston manager Terry Francona said of his relievers, who have the lowest ERA (2.74) in the majors. "I think it just got a lot better. Papelbon, Okajima and Gagne -- these are guys that you don't match up. You just let them pitch really good baseball." Shortly after acquiring Gagne, Boston announced that reliever Brendan Donnelly will have season-ending surgery on his right elbow. "Eric wanted to be in a playoff environment," Boras said. "He has respect for Papelbon, and I'm sure Papelbon has respect for him. While he won't be a full-time closer there, it was an opportunity to win."
  11. You can freely complain in game threads. You can complain as needed in other threads, but don't overdo it or you'll be labelled a malcontent.
  12. Paplebon at the trade deadline: 23 S, 2.15 ERA, 2.87 FIP, 12.93 k/9 Gagne at the trade deadline: 16 S, 2.16 ERA, 3.03 FIP, 10.6 k/9 Gagne wasn't to be the primary closer.
  13. Sogard hits the ball harder and has more positional versatility (i.e. can play SS). Meidroth is a light hitting (think Marty Barrett) guy who is taking advantage of the challenge system in AAA. He's a decent defender at 2B and 3B, but doesn't have a great arm or range. The worry is that his lack of power will push that OBP down a lot in MLB as pitchers will begin to go after him more. If his exit velos were a tick higher, he would be higher on the radar. Meidroth isn't at risk of being taken in the Rule 5 draft, but he could either be used as trade fodder this year or they may work him into the rotation next season. Hard to say.
  14. David Murphy would have sat on the bench for a few years and never reached his potential in BOS. Kason Gabbard didn't do anything after leaving. Gagne: 3.03 FIP Having 3 games blow up on him in 2 months is just bad luck.
  15. Sogard can field and had a decent OBP in AAA. Maybe he can be a decent stopgap until something better comes along?
  16. @redsoxstats Kristian Campbell has 1 strikeout and 6 walks in his last 10 games/47 plate appearances. Strikeout rate 27% High-A 15% Double-A Swinging strike rate 12% High-A 7% Double-A I'm glad they didn't "sell high" on Campbell. I want to see him into next year.
  17. Sox would love a switch hitting 2B like him (and he hits LHP better too).
  18. Kelly was gone for 5 years. Fedde just one. Kelly also wasn't that great over there. His numbers didn't really pop until he was back here for a few years.
  19. If he pitched the 3rd game of the year rather than the first, I think Kluber would be more easily forgotten. Cora did Sale a favor by having him pitch the 2nd game, but it threw Kluber under the bus.
  20. On cue: @SoxProspects Our @SPChrisHatfield is reporting that Marcelo Mayer is headed to the Portland 7-day IL for the hip issue that led to him leaving Tuesday's game and missing yesterday's. Team source says they only expect him to need the minimum stint.
  21. If you want him traded, hope he balls out the rest of the way this year the way Nick Yorke did in AAA. Then you can package him with something and maybe a team takes on that contract.
  22. I'd rather have Edman and prospects than Fedde.
  23. Mickey Romero GRE: 50 G, 858 OPS, 9 HR At the same age, Yorke was struggling at the same level: 80 G, 668 OPS, 11 HR Both players dealt with injuries that held them out at times. It'll be interesting to see if Romero's defense keeps him in the org for a while or if the Sox move on from him as well. He could be important insurance for Mayer since Marcelo also has his own injury concerns.
  24. 1/10M is fine! Were there additional years tacked on I didn't know about?
