  1. I was referring to certain nonactive posters. You're the only one who has really stuck around. Are you worried about Max Fried's elbow? How high are you on the non-Devin Williams offseason acquisitions?
  2. Sure. The AL seems to be down this year. If they can get into the WS and their rotation is still cooking (Crochet, Houck, Buehler, Bello, Fitts or acquisition), I think there's a chance. They'd still be the underdogs against the Dodgers, Braves and some other NL teams.
  3. Where would Bregman be heading? With Bregman as the Opening Day starter, it seems like Mayer has a better opportunity at 2B/SS.
  4. I wouldn't be overly concerned with that since they are just DHs.
  5. Bernardino for now. If one of the starters gets blown up early, they'll need to use Newcomb in a bulk role and may have to call up Criswell.
  6. I agree with this assessment. I think Giolito was probably healthy enough to pitch, but the Sox used the muscle "tweaking" as IL time to continue to work on Gio working his way back from TJS. He really didn't pitch all that much in ST and didn't look all that great when he was in, but I'm not sure if he's going to be very good until middle of the season anyway. It's going to take a while for him to really be 100%, but you can't hold him out just because his stuff isn't back yet. Bello is probably on the same track as last year and is most likely the first to arrive in BOS. Crawford may be the last to come back and I wouldn't be surprised if they are extra careful with him. It seems clear that if this injury existed last season and now is keeping him out that they rode him too hard last year. I don't know if he's even back in May. My concern is that rest clearly didn't solve the problem, so maybe only surgery will.
  7. “Alex is going to play third,” said Cora. “Raffy’s going to DH. We all are in the winning business. He understands that.” Pumped and jacked is back on the menu, boys.
  8. "Rays Up! Thank You Yankees!" Cursed timeline...
  9. He had a better spring ERA than Tanner Houck.
  10. I may now be too far removed from Boston to answer this question directly and all my go to spots have now closed (RIP Burrito Max and Pour House). However, Boston is very small and walkable. You don't necessarily have to find food or drinks right next to Fenway prior to the game. You can look further out along Newbury St/Back Bay and still be close enough to walk to the game without huffing and puffing.
  11. He's averaged less than 10 the past three seasons. Prime Chapman was certainly a legit closer.
  12. Keith Law is a known Red Sox hater so that's at least a little interesting. These are about as valuable as FanGraphs projections though. 😎
  13. Jacko hasn't logged in since August.
  14. Doing that on July 31st is TOO LATE!
  15. Chapman's last 6 outings: 11 K, 1 BB If he can keep that BB rate around 4 per 9, he's not going to give up the closer's role.
  16. On a side note, if the Sox are indeed better this year, it'll be interesting what old friends start showing up again.
  17. This article projects all three to be "back in Boston" by the end of April though. That seemed a little aggressive to me.
  18. This thread would be much more exciting if our prominent Yankees supporters hadn't disappeared from the board.
  19. There aren't many "real" closers anymore and I'm not sure what that package would get back. It wasn't necessarily a pro-Foley post.
  20. If they were lying and they really were rebuilding, why didn't they sell at the deadline in '22 when they had the chance? They didn't really sell off at the deadline in '23 either.
  21. 1. Midrotation starter 2. O'Hoppe and a rando reliever 3. Mason Miller, no! Jason Foley, sure! Is he a "real" closer?
  22. Not once did Sox FO come out and say "we're in rebuilding mode." Every year they said the expectations were to be competitive and get into the playoffs.
  23. IDK. It could get higher if he hits again this year. He didn't show much last season and hasn't shown much this spring. He just hasn't put it together in game since 2022 (aside from one good month last season).
