  1. What is going on in Tampa is pretty laughable. I'd feel bad for the Rays fans, but they were going to build the new stadium right next to the old one and still not draw anybody. Dave Stewart needs to buy them ASAP.
  2. I think we have a lot of 3/4/5 types in the org. We don't have guys to slot in at the top.
  3. Martin and Jansen are still available too. I'd rather they come back than Pivetta.
  4. It was his age 37 season. He pitched 164 innings the year before that. That's more than he pitched the previous 3 years combined. Arms have a limited amount of bullets in them. Corey snuck in an additional 250 productive innings after surgery and then was toast. His 2022 season was only worth 0.8 bWAR. If you look at his 2022 Statcast, his "stuff" looked nothing like what it was prior to surgery in 2018. He no longer had a valuable fastball or breaking ball. His whiff and k rates fell off a cliff. 19th percentile xBA. 26th percentile xSLG. He was on his way out due to the surgery and age.
  5. Pivetta is reliable until he's no longer reliable. We saw that with Giolito. Pivetta's ceiling is a 3 at his best? He pitches more often like a decent 4 and a 5 for a good rotation. Why spend large on that?
  6. I have clearly forgotten the ballad of Rusney Castillo.
  7. Hugh, it's on you to show your work for this.
  8. The first one MIGHT have a high likelihood of being overcome, the second one does NOT have a high likelihood. There's a long list of the 2nd TJS being a career ender or at least a huge career diminisher. It's just not the 80-90% success story that Hugh was stating.
  9. Is he going to be able to have his velo and spin rates for 600-800 innings or just a 10 inning stretch when the adrenaline is pumping for a WS? If he pitches great for six months to start this year and them blows his arm out again for a 3rd time, it's not a success story. He needs to come back and pitch well for a few years at least for it to be considered full performance.
  10. Not after the second one they don't.
  11. The old ownership didn't want to spend any money. The new ownership didn't fully take over until last August. They are either currently working on extensions or have cash flow issues IMO. Maybe they are just deeply unserious people? Who knows?
  12. Needs to be bullied harder.
  13. I will be unmoved by a Teoscar or Bregman signing.
  14. Well, maybe all the other teams will run out of money and the Burnes market will dry up?
  15. Hell yeah brother!
  16. BUT it's also the offseason where this ownership needed to bring the fanbase back in. Simply trading for Crochet isn't going to do it. They needed to make a big splash $$$ wise on a real FA to show their true investment in the team.
  17. He hates the Yankees, but our ownership also hates paying market value for players. I wish I could get on board with the idea.

  19. I believe this is 100% the case. They don't want to go large and long on a reliever.
  20. Chat, who can hit LHP better: Enmanuel Valdez or 19th round 2024 draftee RHP Joe Vogatsky?
  21. Sam leaked it 100%. Made to make Breslow look bad.
  22. What's the rush? Just wait a year and get him in FA.
  23. What was the issue with calling him up to BOS then?
  24. I heard otherwise. We’ll see what happens.
