  1. Game 163: Matt Moore
  2. It's not just the color, they may be really awful to look at even ignoring the color. The Sox have sold green jerseys before that were popular.
  3. Seby Zavala accepted his assignment to AAA. Red Sox released Grant Gambrell.
  4. Really letting the air out of the balloon on Opening Day.
  5. 10.64 ERA, 3.75 FIP Blown Save Blown Save Loss Loss Blown Save Loss Hold Loss (Paplebon blew the save)
  6. You answered your own question then. He looked great in Spring Training and we're trying to be optimistic after 3 down seasons.
  7. 2024: Rafaela 544 AB's, 15 walks, 134 hits Judge 569 AB's, 20 INTENTIONAL walks, 133 walks More intentional walks than Rafaela had walks. Almost as many walks as Rafaela had hits.
  8. It's enough to keep them in contention during the regular season. He's a 10 bWAR guy. That's the difference between playoffs and below .500.
  9. We've seen from Henry recently that he makes decisions and very poor ones at times. I think he was upset at how 2011 went down and wanted to blame someone. He dumped DD after one down season and put out bad press on his way out. I think Henry was too high on his own supply at that point. I don't think he liked that it was seen as Theo and Tito's team. He got rid of them and kicked them on the way out the door which is now what they always do, which makes me want to ignore the 2011 drama even more. The worst thing to happen to the Sox was them winning in 2013, as it led him to believe that he could cheapen out and just get another WS willy nilly. He killed a golden goose and he'll do it over and over again just to show how smart he is.
  10. Without pitching, I'm not sure what the O's can do. Maybe they are a team that can pile on wins in the regular season and then lose in the WC? IDK.
  11. I think we learned that Richards shouldn't have been in that rotation. We can ignore an offense starting slow.
  12. The Sox punted on the 4th and 5th starters that year once Buchholz went down. Bedard didn't work out. Wakefield should have retired prior to 2011.
  13. It's not just that the pitching fell apart, the pitching was completely injured and there was no rotation to rely on in September. They needed to drag an ancient Wakefield out there (6.30 ERA last 4 starts of his career). Kyle Weiland had 3 horrible starts (9.26 ERA). They traded for Erik Bedard and it didn't work out (3 starts 5.25 ERA, didn't get out of the 4th inning the last two starts). They had Andrew Miller for two starts (15.63 ERA) before he was sent off to the pen. Then the C&B crew (Lackey 5 starts/9.13 ERA/4.17 FIP, Beckett 4 starts/5.48 ERA/4.63 FIP, Lester 6 starts/5.40 ERA/3.75 FIP) all pitched poorly at times and got lit up in the last few weeks, but may have been a little bit of bad luck. In Septemeber, the Sox were 7th in offensive fWAR and 6th in wRC+. They were 28th in starting pitching fWAR (30th in ERA, 29th in xFIP, 29th in innings thrown) and 15th in reliever fWAR (lead MLB in innings thrown).
  14. If he does that, the price goes up even higher.
  15. Yes, I'm worried about Crochet's durability. I'm also worried that the Sox will not extend him after trading a lot of prospect capital. If the Sox only halfway go for it the next two years and Crochet leaves, it's a failure on this FO. I'm a worrier.
  16. Hal is going for it, but not quite the way his dad did. At least we can be thankful for that.
  17. We always overstate the meaning of the first game or two of the year.
  18. The Mariners helped the Sox out by spending more time worrying about concessions offerings than adding to their offense.
  19. The roles haven't been clearly defined to US. Maybe they've been clearly defined internally? Chapman CL Slaten Set up Whitlock Fireman Wilson L1 (6/7) Bernardino L2 (5/6/7) Kelly (7/8) high leverage Weissert (6/7) medium leverage Hendriks (5/6) low leverage until his stuff is back At some point, one of these guys will be swapped out for a bulk innings guy (Newcomb or other).
  20. Go back to 2018. Where was the room to add players then? It all fell apart really quick and the whole team turned over except for Raffy.
  21. Again, it's been 30 years since the Yanks have been under .500. Really an amazing stretch when you think about it.
