  1. They are in the lead on the "We Tried Tracker." https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rOPYSEkIppeiOv7PECMgvCgdaYwr8WwAFP4dUKXIhd8/edit?gid=1794412195#gid=1794412195
  2. I think that it's an FSG conglomerate really changes how they view spending on the Sox. Henry doesn't own a majority of the Sox, but he does need to return value to his shareholders. Maybe they'll open up the bank vault again, but it's been shut tight for a while now.
  3. He was an absolute beast. The quip about the high HBP plus low HR rate just reminded me of our favorite mango tree sitter. 🥭
  4. Well, the top 9 might not like his medicals or may have some sort of weather event that demolishes their stadium like what happened in TB.
  5. Pedro will always be my favorite Sox pitcher of all time. 2000: 14 HBP, 0.7 HR/9 (led league in HR/9, Jamey Wright hit 18 batters that year) 2002: 15 HBP, 0.6 HR/9 (5th in HR/9, Kerry Wood hit 16 batters that year)
  6. I've already stated why a few times.
  7. I mean, I don't know what people would expect from a pitcher who turned 21 in AAA. Seems like he was holding his own well enough for a high school guy.
  8. I'm surprised people aren't adding Perales to more trades on here since he's on the 40 man and injured.
  9. In the real world, the pitcher market is HOT. BTV can't account for that. It's strictly value per WAR on the contract vs $'s left to pay and teams may not look at trades that way.
  10. BTV will sometimes throw out trades that are 5 for 1 if the hodgepodge has very low value players. I don't know what it would say about moon's trade. Now that it's a pay for play site, I don't bother with it.
  11. I'd say top 10, but probably closer to 10th than we're hoping.
  12. Why would PITT take Abreu and a hodgepodge of guys for a pitcher who has shown he's at least a middle rotation guy? That they would take Abreu and Mayer seems like an underpay to me.
  13. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/s/sawamhi01.shtml
  14. He's been burned on pitching contracts in the past and made the playoffs AFTER trading those guys away.
  15. +5 grinches to all who continue this trend Anyway, here's Wonderwall...
  16. https://www.mlb.com/news/roki-sasaki-free-agent-favorites?t=mlb-pipeline-coverage Execs believe Dodgers or Padres. Mariners are the darkhorse West Coast team. Giants and Rangers may also be a fit. Cubs? Sox are another "very interested" AL team based on Breslow's push of the history of successful Japanese pitchers in this market. Mets and Yankees may or may not be ruled out based on the agent's comments on market size.
  17. Hard to judge some of the recent IFA years as the prospects haven't had enough time to develop. 2021: Bleis/Lira/Ravelo/Paez/Sawamura B- (class lives and dies on Bleis' success) 2020: Chacon/Liu/Salazar/Jhostynxon/Castro/Perales/Monegro B+ 2019: Lopez/Bryan Gonzalez/Feliz/Gabriel Jackson/Wikelman/Paulino/Bonaci/Bastardo C (a lot of names, but nothing really panned out) 2018: Daniel Flores/Diaz/Antoni Flores/Bello/Rafaela A- (could have been higher with Daniel Flores' ceiling) 2017: Velazquez - INC (team limited due to restrictions) 2016: Muzziotti/Santos/Mata/Mosqueda/Castellanos D+
  18. Not to rundown SoxProspects too much, but they have a tendency to really pushdown certain prospects that have MLB tools and a clear path the MLB playing time. A prime example: Wilyer Abreu 12/1/22 ranked 29th (had 834 OPS with two AA teams) 4/5/23 ranked 24th (moved up based on prospects leaving over the offseason like Ward, Seabold, etc.) 7/6/23 ranked 20th (OPS above 800 with strong defensive profile, 960 OPS vs RHP) 11/22/23 ranked 8th (after MLB promotion) It took them waiting to see him continue his success at the MLB level before becoming a believer. He was a strong side platoon guy with above average defense. I don't know what he was outside the top 20 for so long. Why have Mata, Paulino, Bonaci or even Valdez above him. Valdez had no defensive position. It was clear he was going to be a platoon DH or just a horrible 2B. Harder to judge him against pitcher evaluations, but he was waayyy underrated for a long while.
  19. Putting him behind Nelly Taylor, Blaze Jordan and Hayden Mullins is wild to me. Those guys may never make the bigs. I like Nelly, but he needs to start showing something with the bat to have more value than a defensive third string catcher who OPS'd 782 in AAA last year. They definitely undervalue certain players that have MLB profiles over guys with higher ceilings that are most likely not going to get there. Would I trade Blaze for another Narvaez? Yes. Trade Penrod? Maybe! Castro? Maybe!
  20. Top 5 in the Alex Bregman Sweepstakes! Hang the banner!!!
  21. Cody Ross Hunter Renfroe Adam Duvall Tyler O'Neill Seems like these guys have always been replaceable.
