  1. How'd they go about fixing the confusion? They brought in Theo Epstein to add yet another voice to the cacophony! Grape job everyone!
  2. You didn't answer my question. The transparency on their acceptance rate is awful.
  3. Why is Kimbrel being paid 14M? He wasn't with the Sox. Also unsure why you are setting that particular budget. If they go over again, it's not the end of the world. Also Also I suggest trading half of Price's contract.
  4. I'd rather they go the Bregman 3B route if I'm being honest. It becomes a little bit of a mess, but I'd keep Masa and trade Casas in a package for another starter.
  5. Pivetta who was in and out of the rotation the past few years was replaced by Crochet. Jansen and Martin who were replaced by Hendriks, Chapman and probably others including internal options like Whitlock. Tyler O'Neill who is such a miss by ownership because the Sox never replaced oney year RHB OF phenoms like Hunter Renfroe's RBI production or Adam Duvall's April production with any FA since they left. It's just impossible to find a RHB on a one year deal and have them perform cheaply in Boston! Also, the number one prospect in baseball: Roman Anthony.
  6. Pedroia 15M (through '21) Pablo 19M Nunez 5M Pearce 6M Holt 4M They were getting 35M in savings just from the 4 guys above leaving after '19. Pedroia was a sunk cost. Even Price was somewhat of a sunk cost. You won a WS with him and then you eat the end of the contract. That's why you sign those guys. Could they have traded Price and half his deal for a low A pitcher on his own? Probably. They CHOSE to not re-sign Mookie and blow it up.
  7. Yeah, seems that's what has been their approach in recent years. Unfortunately, they aren't properly valuing the market and are being left behind in FA.
  8. Last I heard, the Red Sox haven't even given him a number yet.
  9. I'm not saying the Sox are faking interest, just that Teoscar is MORE interested in the Dodgers and wants to stay there. He's going to try to squeeze more money out of them by bringing more bidders into the process.
  10. BTV is great at showcasing when trades work with their model. When a trade is an overpay, they just handwave it away.
  11. Did the Jays and Rays somehow get better this offseason and I didn't hear about it?
  12. If they are really updating it offseason week to week, then what is the metric aside from player value and $$$? Are they just WAGing it? Again, it's just a fun toy and isn't a direct correlation to real life.
  13. I was kind of referring more to players that haven't appeared in MLB yet than guys like Jared Jones. I'm unsure how they calculate salaries though. Jones apparently became more available after they saw what Crochet was traded for. Keller is a good pitcher, but I wouldn't give up a ton for him.
  14. I don't believe they are going to sign either. For some reason, they are trying to be in on everyone rather than coming up with a plan and sticking to it. I think it's probably because they are assigning values to players and aren't wanting to go over said value I doubt they sign Teoscar and believe his camp is just using the Sox to up the offer from the Dodgers.
  15. Also, putting your faith in owners is the last thing anyone should be doing right now. They might be smart in however they made their money, but they are pretty dumb when it comes to running their teams more often than not.
  16. If they keep putting it off, Fenway will be filled more and more by away fans. I was at the Padres series this year and it was ROUGH.
  17. "I spent money and it didn't work out for one year! Time to trade our generational talent and rebuild for five years!!!"
  18. They are in the lead on the "We Tried Tracker." https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1rOPYSEkIppeiOv7PECMgvCgdaYwr8WwAFP4dUKXIhd8/edit?gid=1794412195#gid=1794412195
  19. I think that it's an FSG conglomerate really changes how they view spending on the Sox. Henry doesn't own a majority of the Sox, but he does need to return value to his shareholders. Maybe they'll open up the bank vault again, but it's been shut tight for a while now.
  20. He was an absolute beast. The quip about the high HBP plus low HR rate just reminded me of our favorite mango tree sitter. 🥭
  21. Well, the top 9 might not like his medicals or may have some sort of weather event that demolishes their stadium like what happened in TB.
  22. Pedro will always be my favorite Sox pitcher of all time. 2000: 14 HBP, 0.7 HR/9 (led league in HR/9, Jamey Wright hit 18 batters that year) 2002: 15 HBP, 0.6 HR/9 (5th in HR/9, Kerry Wood hit 16 batters that year)
  23. I've already stated why a few times.
