  1. Harrison was the main prospect coming out of the trade. It was Harrison and the unknown of Tibbs. The Sox needed to get more for the Raffy trade. They didn't get "nothing." They got "nothing" when they dealt Hamilton, Harrison and Drohan to the Brewers. Trading Tibbs a few weeks later for May was awful. I don't know why they pulled the plug on him so quick. The return on the Devers trade was a C- and as a Devers fan I wanted more. The return on the subsequent deals have been D-'s.
  2. Alex 78-84 Cora certainly does know a lot about baseball. He also seemed to wear out his welcome here. I think switching managers shouldn't be a very big deal. They got rid of Terry Francona and won a few more WS somehow.
  3. The first time I read about statistics ruining baseball was an article in Sport Magazine back in the late 80's early 90's.
  4. Hard to say what the outcome of any of his injuries are until we see him on the mound again.
  5. Tolle, maybe? I thought he'd end up there. Boy was I wrong!
  6. Yes, Rafaela WAS playing bad defense early on. It did lead to losses (there's a game where he lost a ball in the sun when the glasses were sitting on his hat)! He is playing much better now!
  7. TBF, Buchholz probably just did have a boo-boo and missed 90 days. He did get IL'd for napping while holding his baby.
  8. Comments from ownership or just people in general?
  9. Meidroth is the 3rd best 2b in the AL per fWAR. He already has 5 HR this season. Only 4 Sox have 5 or more dingers and Contreras is the only IFer.
  10. Not deemed serious, they still have 4 starters and can get bulk innings out of Bello. Need to figure out who the sacrificial LH Opener should be though. Trade for Bernardino? He still has a MiLB option somehow.
  11. He was also benched for a few days to help clear his mind. I'm sure they've been doing a lot of work with him. Eventually, the balls were just going to fall in. It's not like his hitting the ball in the air now. He went 1 for 5 yesterday and his 3 hardest hits went a combined 165 ft in the air. If you hit a lot of ground balls, you need luck or a lot of skill. Not sure which Durbin has if either. Anyway, I hope he breaks out. Him being a 700 OPS guy makes this team a lot better. He's a legit GG 3b.
  12. The org never communicated well to him. If they truly wanted to move him off 3b permanently, they should have considered where he'd play in the future. If Cora said "throw away your glove, you're DH" it's pretty dumb. Why not have him be the 1B/DH and just have him play 1B like once a week just in case. That should have been the plan all along. It just was handled so poorly by Devers, Cora, Breslow...
  13. They do intentional rest days in MiLB. Haven't heard about him moving to the pen.
  14. It's DSL Opening Day.
  15. Feels like a lost season early on for Romero. Was hoping he'd continue to tick up.
  16. He's not a late inning arm, but bringing in a guy who throws GAS in the 5th/6th inning right after a starter has been taken out has a lot of value to me. I'd rather that than some of the low ceiling soft tossers they've had.
  17. It's backloaded, but it really doesn't affect the CBT too much. It just goes up 830k when recalculated for this season. IDK. I'm sure they'd kick in some $$$ because they are trying to get out from under it, but I don't think the Sox care about what SF paid in cash over the first year.
  18. Devers and Schwarber do not have the same personalities. If Raffy tried to do that, the media would have ripped him.
  19. Yup, ignoring the bullpen was a mistake! A few of us smarter posters were talking about it in the offseason. 🤓
  20. Narvaez used the same company that Durbin did. Most players use multiple avenues to work on their swings, not just the internal coaching. Lots of guys have their own networks they lean on. These guys are rich and spend big $$$ to fix their swings. This isn't little league daddy ball. .
  21. Sox PR spin every injury to make it seem less serious than it could be. When the player ends up being more injured, it makes the player look fragile or weak because they can't make the initial timeline.
