  1. Red Sox have a .500 win % when Bregman is on the active roster. 🤬 Maybe Manfred can do the right thing and finally suspend those HOU players.
  2. I don't see him moving Bregman around. That guy's ego must be the size of the Titanic! Just like what he's doing to the Sox W/L %! 😎
  3. He moves guys around, because the team he has isn't that good and the construction of it is poor. He wasn't really doing that when he had really good players in 2018. Now he's been given roster with 6 OFers, which is wild. He isn't going to have these guys languish on the bench, so he's trying to figure out how to fit them in. He is also trying to play everyone as much as possible prior to the trade deadline so that opposing scouts can see them.
  4. Jhostynxon: 2 taters Johanfran: walkoff tater
  5. Glad I could convince you! 😎 I hope Devers has a long fruitful career in SF and that the Sox win a bunch of championships without him.
  6. He wasn't the only one. There were Sox scouts that had liked Masa for a while. Those scouts were still with the team at least through last season. IDK if they were purged post audit.
  7. Good starters and rough pitching matchups. This was going to be a pretty tough series for them.
  8. But haven't you considered the feelings of Breslow and ownership and how THEY were slighted?
  9. Hard to play 1b if you're injured. Even harder to want to play 1b if your bosses don't communicate with you and then get pissy with you in the media.
  10. He started 68% of last seasons games. That's not even including his two 10 day IL stints. The number is most likely lower than 30%. This season he has started 69% of the games. That's not including his lone 10 day IL stint.
  11. Agree about Bowden. Disagree about Wilyer being a platoon, but Duran not being a platoon hitter. Duran has been worse against LHP than Abreu this season. It's not clear cut that one is better than the other, so it isn't fair to paint in such a broad stroke IMO. It's just personal preference. Overall, they are about the same to me, so it's up to Breslow to choose.
  12. He didn't hit 9th like the Red Sox 1b. Good riddance though! 🙃
  13. Some people were upset about Renfroe, Schwarber was the much bigger loss.
  14. It was a bad call by the ump. Lou thinks so as well. Runner was safe though.
  15. Usually, if they are moving guys around that low in the minors, it's because they are trying to find a defensive home for the player, not to make the player more versatile (ex. Justin Gonzales, Yoeilin Cespedes. Blaze, Brannon, Matthew Lugo). With Rafaela, they tried him in the OF to see what it looked like and he took to it almost immediately. From that point, he was like 75/25 CF/SS. That may be an exception due to his outstanding defense. Otherwise, they haven't gone in that direction from what I remember.
  16. It doesn't seem to be the case when looking at the past few games on statcast. He's just swinging at everything no matter what the pitch is or count. Without knowing what they are doing, it's just guesswork. I don't believe it is the reason his numbers look so awful though.
  17. For a team that is trying to compete for the playoffs and has not reasonable replacement for closer, I'm not sure they can trade him at this point. If they didn't go on the 10 game winning streak, it was definitely on the table. This team would have to completely fall apart for them to deal him. I think they are buyers at this point.
  18. He's seeing less pitches per PA this season in AAA than last year. If it was pitch recognition, you think they'd want that number to go up. His k rate is up to 34% (was 21%). I assume they are trying to get him to pull the ball, but he's still going oppo 40% of the time. I don't know what they could be possibly doing development wise that would tank his numbers like this. Tying his shoes together?
  19. I don't agree with this. Fundamentals are down completely across the game. Young players spend more time hitting than anything else. Fielding is perceived to be far less important in their development and moving on to high school, college or getting drafted.
  20. You don't believe that they didn't care about him getting better defensively, but believe that they torpedoed him by moving him around and never sticking him at one position to truly learn it. To me, that's the definition of not caring.
  21. Chapman hadn't had an ERA below 3 since 2019. He's turning back the clock this year, but I wouldn't expect him to keep it up for a few more years beyond this. He has a career low WHIP this season. This is the best he's ever pitched. Enjoy it while it lasts IMO. His performance is house money right now.
