  1. Field: Instinctual defender with fluid actions. Looks like he is gliding on the field. Soft hands and solid footwork. Moves well and has plenty of range for shortstop. Confident defender; will take a flashy infield. Some long-term concerns about his ability to stick at shortstop as he matures. Organization appeared poised to get him some reps at third base midway through 2024, but injuries, including the one that eventually ended his season after July 30, effectively scuttled those plans. Potential above-average defender at short for the foreseeable future. Arm: Plus arm, plenty for shortstop. Confident in his arm and able to make all the throws with plenty of zip.
  2. Trevor's arm strength is towards the bottom of the league at SS. The funny thing is that most people don't want Hamilton over there because of his arm, but he's top 25 for that position in arm strength.
  3. But we could be dragging out a 40 year old Rob Refsnyder to platoon for 30 games at DH!!!?!?!??!
  4. I have Roman Anthony batting instead of Refsnyder playing the field. I'm not worried about Abreu, the 4th OFer.
  5. Refsnyder is RHB off the bench which is a fine role for him.
  6. "Don't care." - Jay Cutler
  7. I disagree with post-surgery Story being better. When he was younger, sure.
  8. Masa is a good baseball player in a bad situation (team that doesn't want him and a ballpark that doesn't suit him).
  9. I don't think Mayer profiles best at 2b and would prefer Story 2b/Mayer SS if both are playing.
  10. Oh, then you do kind of see my point. Anthony definitely makes sense on the roster right now. If they are going to start Campbell at 2b, they should be starting Anthony as well.
  11. He deserves another season to show what he's got. I wouldn't dump him in a trade just because.
  12. We used to have a system that had NO starting rotation prospects. Not even guys that profiled as back end 5th starter guys. Now: Priester Fitts Perales Dobbins Fitts Tolle Sandlin Early Valera This isn't even counting guys with upside like Clarke, Paez, Monegro and Reyes. Definitely the best since 2015. Could argue it's the best since the Lester, Hansen, Buchholz, Bowden, Pauley, Alvarez group from 2006.
  13. Hamilton had a 102 wRC+ against RHP, but a dreadful 43 wRC+ against LHP. They may try to Frankenstein's Monster a 2b out of Hamilton and Romy with their splits as a temporary stop gap until Campbell is fully ready. They may just take their lumps with Campbell? If they are going that route, why not also call up Anthony and fully complete the OF and just go with Duran/Rafaela/Anthony out there? Rip the bandaid off.
  14. Rumbling about the Sox wanting to put him on the IL to start the year because he can't field? Don't like it!
  15. Hard to say if it was a fluke since his previous sample size is so low. His FIP was about the same as his ERA and xFIP was only slightly higher. Nothing jumps out as lucky when you look at his BABIP and HR/9 or compare his bb/9 and k/9 to previous years (including AAA appearances).
  16. Better than Chase Anderson that's for sure. Maybe they just leave him in WOO to keep him stretched out in case of more injuries.
  17. Also, Juan Valera is now throwing hundos with his 4 seamer. Not sure how many innings he'll throw this season, but his 2028 ETA seems conservative now.
  18. Early added velo this offseason. It'll be interesting to see if he gets helium this year. He has a good pitch mix and a starter's build, so there's a decent ceiling if he puts it together. He's definitely a guy that is going to pitch in MLB at some point.
  19. If they need a AAA OFer to start the year on the 40 man, it'll be Eaton due to the options he has remaining IMO. I don't think they are at that position yet. They'd more likely just add Sogard to the 26 and use Romy as a backup OFer.
  20. I'm not sure we necessarily know this. The bigger issue is that he may not be able to throw back to back days.
  21. He didn't hit there last season. No harm in him going there this year and succeeding.
  22. Per FanGraphs, Stubbs has 1 option remaining. Marchan has no options.
  23. If Chapman is the closer, I’m turning the game off after 8. Don’t need more stress in my life.
