  1. Kelly seems like an up and down guy who is gone once he's out of options. When he's going good, you can run him out there. He's just been getting hit too hard this year. He's a guy with good stuff, but is kind of a rollercoaster. Last year, he had the great bases loaded appearance against NYY that was featured in the Netflix doc.
  2. I think I'd rather Fitts and Dobbins than Gio going forward anyway. 🤔
  3. If the Sox sweep the series, they will have not beaten an above .500 team that is currently in a WC spot, but a below .500 one! Shame! They must only go 2-1 in the series so that they can finally start racking up wins against above .500 teams!
  4. I would just put Rafaela in RF against LHP in that scenario.
  5. I think George Springer is in the lead. He is only 3 for 6 on catches with a difficulty rating of 1 star (95% probability). Duran is 5 for 6.
  6. Bottom line, it's meaningless this early in the season. They've played 3 in division series and TEX, a team that will probably get to the playoffs. I'm not going to be upset that they are 2nd place in the division and above .500 at this point in the season even though Casas, Duran, Rafaela, Devers and every Catcher hasn't been able to hit a lick.
  7. Garcia will be down there until MiLB All Star game at least. No rush on him.
  8. Don't be stealing my posts bro.
  9. Unlike Casas, Duran is still making loud contact and should turn it around with some bad luck regression. I think he heats up when the weather gets a little warmer. He didn't really turn it on until June last year.
  10. I hope Bello can start the season off strong an that there are no lingering visa issues with his family like in '24. Really would like to see him ball out this year now that Houck has taken a step back.
  11. Rafaela is definitely not going to make the season. That is true. An 8 fWAR Duran could make the season! Roman Anthony in BOS could make the season! If Rafaela isn't good enough to sway the season, why hold onto him like a fabergé egg?
  12. This stat is relatively meaningless, especially early in the season. Cardinals are 9-14. If they had swept the Sox, instead of the other way around, you could say the Sox were 2-9 against teams above .500. If BAL swept the Sox, they'd be above .500. If the Sox beat TOR one more time, they would be a below .500 team. If the Sox were beating up on all these teams, they opponents would mostly be below .500 and you could say "they haven't played anybody." If the Sox were doing worse than they are now, they'd have an even worse record against teams above .500. It's just a function of the season being only a few weeks long.
  13. I think Casas is a guy who hasn't been well liked by his teammates. I mean, just think about when he first came up and got pushback about his pregame routine. Even in the NESN documentary, he seems like more of a loner than everyone else. Cora has said more negative things about Casas than he would about most other players. Maybe it's just a motivation tactic, maybe it's something else? It just seems like he's a guy that is left on alone on his island a lot of times for better or worse. After his walk off, he kept looking over his shoulder during the interview for a gatorade shower that never came. If anyone needed a pick me up at that time, it was him. Really awkward moment. Kind of sad.
  14. Last year, they had a CFer with a 8 fWAR ceiling (Duran). Why settle for a CFer with a 2 fWAR ceiling (Rafaela)?
  15. Duran can be an above average CFer and a not so great LFer. Maybe he just doesn't read the ball off the bat very well in LF. He also uses his speed to run down balls, which he can't do in Fenway's LF. If you look at the Statcast numbers, Duran doesn't get a good jump on the ball, unlike Rafaela. Rafaela has a '25 MLB ranking in OFer OAA where Duran was in '24. I'm not entirely convinced there would be a substantial dropoff if Duran slid back to CF.
  16. He's only had 3 games down there at 1B and I haven't heard if he's any good. It can't be as bad as Franchy, right? It's great that he's showing offensive value again. It'd be wild to replace Triston with his best friend even just temporarily.
  17. To me, 700 is the floor. You can't carry a no hit catcher and a no hit CFer and expect to be more than a .500 win team. You see it in the offensive output early on here. Punting at two positions puts them at a tight spot if any other player is struggling. We talked about trading JBJ every season even though he was the greatest CFer of all time according to some posters. I don't get why Ceddanne gets a pass. Is it just because he's young and people think he's going to turn into a hitter he's not?
  18. He has a shoulder issue that has pushed him to DH. 😔
  19. He has 3 more weeks to get his act together or they are going to find a temporary replacement and option him to AAA.
  20. JBJ could be a 2.5-3 fWAR guy when he was around 725 OPS. I think that really needs to be the goal here. We complained endlessly about JBJ's offense, but now we're giving a free pass to Rafaela who is significantly WORSE? Rafaela's '25 offensive output is what JBJ did for the Sox in '22 and nobody on here is looking back at that season fondly.
  21. He has to take steps forward to be a 650 guy now? He was 664 last season! If he's not at 700, it doesn't work for me.
  22. The Boston jerseys are preferable to the yellow ones at this point.
  23. If they like him, they would have kept him.
  24. Wilson has been one of the better pen arms TBH. You need to look at his Savant page.
