  1. I think the competition at AA isn't the same as it was a few years ago. Ever since they got rid of short season, the MiLB levels have been a little wonky. It's not as easy to promote a top prospect from AA (see Jackson Holiday). The learning curve is a little different now and AAA may be a required step IMO.
  2. His 531 OPS after his first 14 games showed you he was ready? Interesting.
  3. Before STL 398 OPS STL 1824 OPS (He's back! No injury concerns everyone!) After STL 586 OPS
  4. I always get to Campbell's spot to figure out what madness Cora is up to. 😔
  5. If they trade Mayer, they better hope Story stays healthy. I think he's unlikely to opt out, but there is that risk. There's a much higher risk of (a) him being hurt for the majority of the remainder of the contract and (b) the prospects behind Mayer not being ready when Story's contract being up. If you're trading for Alcantara, you can deal Duran/Casas/Rafaela plus Franklin Arias and get the deal done. I don't think they necessarily have to trade Roman and Marcelo to make further moves.
  6. Anthony has shown himself to be a capable AAA bat for over 50 games now. Mayer has only been capable for less than a week. Need to pump the brakes a little bit on Mayer. He may be capable, but they don't have to rush him either as there isn't a direct need.
  7. Sox weren't allowed to sweep because it would have put another opponent below .500 and hurt their strength of schedule!!!
  8. Right, like the starter is better by ERA if the reliever gets the starter's guys out, but worse if the reliever lets everyone in. But we must listen to THE MLB on this: Earned runs is the key counting statistic used in ERA, the most widely accepted barometer of a pitcher's success.
  9. I'm not sure I can even agree with the starter vs reliever thing because of how small his sample is. He got blown up in one relief appearance and it all gets skewed.
  10. Early on in 2024, he had some strong outing, but really fell off down the stretch. He looked really rough this year. I'd rather go with higher upside guys than Criswell who is turning 29 this year and loses his usefulness once his options are gone.
  11. Only two teams in the AL have more wins than the Sox. They must be doing ok then!
  12. 4 H, 3BB, plus 2 HBP (which aren't counted as BB's). That's 9 men on in 5 innings in 97 pitches. 1st inning: Lead off HR, loaded the bases with a walk and 2 HBP 2-4: zero clean innings 5th inning: Had 2 runners on and Arozarena up when he got out of the inning. Not sure how many people were confident in Bello at that point, but he was NOT locating well. He made a good pitch and got out of it. The fact that WHIP doesn't include HBP, is kind of ridiculous. I guess it's treated like an error?
  13. I think they liked Priester, but weren't as impressed with his development as they were with Dobbins and Fitts. Combine that with the offer they received from the Brewers and it seems like kind of a slam dunk to make that trade.
  14. Just remember who the accountants are on here, buddy… These green visors aren’t for show. My 10 key time is legit.
  15. It wasn’t ho hum with all the runners and high pitch count.
