  1. Maybe the White Sox thing is the bigger surprise here, but even so the 2024 Sox got manhandled by the White Sox. If I picked my 3 surprises it would be: 1. How far Houck fell off. I could have seen him dropping to a mid rotation guy, but maybe not losing a rotation spot. It's been really ugly. 2. Devers leading the league in K's AND BB's. Really wild ride for Mr Toad here. 3. Nine throwing errors from Breggie/Story/Campbell/Romy already. Maybe 1B defense is underrated in today's MLB?
  2. Red Sox go oppo 18.4%. League Average is 17.7%. Red Sox pull 29%. League Average is 30.8%. They actually pull less than other teams.
  3. TOR proceeds to give up 5 HR's. 😍 They are now 30th in MLB in HR/9 for pitching.
  4. Since I looked this AM, SoxProspects made the following roster updates for GRE: DH: Ehrhard>Brannon 1B: Brannon>Lugo 2B: Alcantara>Zanetello SS: Zanetello>Arias 3B: Lugo>Alcantara Basically, Ehrhard is benched (hitting horribly) and the defense is realigned.
  5. I don't know how much room there is in the OF for Zenetello with the OFers they already have (Taylor, Bleis, Rodriguez, Ehrhard). Honestly, Zanetello should probably be in Salem anyway.
  6. Until Casas really gets going, this should be the lineup.
  7. 2 less games played and still more losses than the Sox. Arguably a MUCH worse team. Sox 533 win % (86 win pace) TOR 464 win % (75 win pace)
  8. Seems like he has Cora's ear per the Netflix doc. Future coach?
  9. AI calculated it wrong for Google. It's about $4M. You either have to get rid of dead money, guys on the injured list, or include them in the total number of players.
  10. He was hitting 580 on 5/5/23 too. A slow start isn't new for him.
  11. 3 less wins -27 differential xW/L of 11-17 5-10 Away 95 Runs is third lowest in AL (tied with White Sox) 29th in HR 28th in BB% 29th in ISO 29th in HR/9 (pitchers)
  12. I don't think many people projected him to get 0 BB's in his last 142 PA's of '24.
  13. Blue Jays have been pretty awful. Sox need to go for a sweep here and get some early season momentum.
  14. Kiermaier had 6.9 bWAR in '15? I don't think I've looked at his numbers in a while.
  15. The last CFer to do it: https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/b/buxtoby01.shtml Had a 5.0 bWAR season and it mostly came from defense (22 DRS, 28 OAA). People on here say that JBJ was the greatest CFer they've ever seen, but he never had metrics like that. I didn't watch enough 2017 Twins to compare. Kiermaier was always comparable if not better IMO.
  16. The point of an extension isn't "to earn the money." The point of the extension is so that the player isn't able to leave after arbitration. If he's hitting 750 with great defense, the Sox could still afford to re-sign Ceddanne when FA comes around without much trouble. He's not getting a max contract.
  17. I think Alcantara becomes the backup and Zanetello and Arias split SS/2B. Maybe Zanetello finds some time at 3B? I don't see him moving to OF unless they are ready to promote Yophery to POR.
  18. I like replay, but not necessarily how it's implemented. I think most calls on the field should be reviewable. The only ones I'd exclude are balks, check swings and other ump judgement calls like infield flies.
  19. I think he still can play defense. They can part him because they already have a long term CFer on the roster (Rafaela).
  20. If Casas isn't on the roster, you give it a shot.
  21. I'm only vocal about this position at the moment as I was called out for it a few weeks ago. If someone believes it is a good extension, great! It doesn't bother me. It bothers some other posters that I don't think it was a good extension though. Now I'm going to say some nice things about Ceddanne: 813 OPS last 13 G Hard Hit % up to 43.7 Barrelling the ball more EV is up xBA, xSLG, xWOBA all are career highs His best OPS months last season were May, June and July. 5/20-8/21: 773 OPS I think there's a chance he goes on a nice little streak here as he's playing about as well as he ever has and the underlying metrics show it.
  22. Players that could be traded this year (rule 5 eligibility issues): Bleis Castro Monegro Mullins Paez Sandlin
