  1. Good point moon, surprised nobody else brought up Wong’s career split against LHP.
  2. https://www.baseball-reference.com/register/player.fcgi?id=allmer000jay 6'6" RHP reliever who pitched at UNC Asheville and Seton Hall. Per IG, he has worked on increasing his velo from 91 to 97.
  3. Would be like $430k per inning pitched! What a bargain in this economy!
  4. It took him until 7/22/23 to break 800 OPS, but he never dropped under again.
  5. On Liendo, he's always had a substantial split that favored his RH swing against LHP. He's apparently given up being a switch hitter and now that split is gone and has hit better against RHP (small sample of course). Will need to monitor going forward.
  6. I agree about the 140 innings. That's why I said he'd have to be really great to get over 140 at this point. He averaged 5.5 IP/GS the previous two seasons. He hasn't averaged 6 IP since 2020 when he was 25 and receiving CY votes.
  7. Wong is a career 686 vs LHP. Casas is a career 823 vs LHP. I don't know if I'd be quick to put Wong into the lineup unless Casas really needed a day off and Romy was injured.
  8. Judice hasn't been good coming back from injury. 2.1 IP, 1 K, 3 H, 11 BB That's a 43 bb/9. 🥸
  9. Tyler Miller will be the perfect WOO 1b for a few years.
  10. 6'7" and he only throws 91? And I thought we had a velo program?!?!
  11. It's going to be close to 140 if he pitches a full year from here on out. If he's great, he'll reach 140. If he starts off really slow, he has a really tough time of reaching 140. If he's absolutely atrocious, maybe the Sox don't even want him at 14M?
  12. It's his non-throwing shoulder that he originally hurt while fielding. If there are still lingering concerns about the shoulder, putting him in the field doesn't make sense at any position.
  13. Mother, happy birthday to Sox legends Michael Kopech, Jose Peraza and Babe Danzig. https://www.baseball-reference.com/players/d/danziba01.shtml
  14. And just a reminder that it is still EARLY. Last year at this time, Corbin Caroll had 0.0 fWAR. He ended with 4.0. Bregman had 0.0 fWAR and ended with 4.2. Vlad had 0.0 and ended with 5.4. On 4/30/24, Houck and Crawford were tied in leading the league in fWAR for pitchers at 1.5. Houck was outpitching Skubal at that point. BOS was 2nd in pitching fWAR and looked like it could do no wrong. Ceddanne was a negative WAR guy!
  15. I was worried about a slow start with the bat, not the glove.
  16. Dobbins has looked strong in his MLB outings. In his AAA outings? Not as much. However, in AAA outings where he's been a starter and NOT a piggy back, he's looked good. Maybe he's just not a good relief option?
  17. Not even at Memorial Day yet! Hard to really comment on approach changes other than to say "Sox are in 2nd place."
  18. I think a lot of us believe Raffy could be a good 1b as he was relatively athletic over at 3b. I could see him doing a pretty good job at picking bad throws at 1b.
  19. Pete Abraham isn't an "insider." Even from the article: "not to nitpick, but wouldn't the Red Sox rather have Story around in the case that Bregman opts out?" There's enough room to get Mayer on the roster at some point and rotate him in. Call him up June 1, or whenever the Super Two date is, and option Hamilton.
  20. It took Buehler 5 months to get right last season before he pitched well in the playoffs. I don't think it'll be pretty for Gio this year.
