  1. HOU plays TEX and SEA the next 6 games. No matter what, there are some losses in there for somebody.
  2. At the end of the season, TOR and DET will have wrapped up their playoff births and will be mailing it in. Sox should see some AAAA lineups most likely.
  3. Rooting for the Twins sounds like a curse to me.
  4. Rafaela at least provides defense. Wasting the DH spot on Masa is worse IMO. He's got to be the first one to go IMO. He's also hitting 5th or 6th rather than 9th. Can also add Bregman, Lowe, Hamilton and Duran to bats that are "hitting" their way out of town this September. 1. Bench Masa 2. DFA Sanchez when Abreu comes back 3. Abreu is DH vs RHP, Ref is DH vs LHP (Eaton in RF)
  5. There's 43 CFers with over 200 PA's. About a third of them have worse OPS's than Rafaela. If you go by fWAR, he's a top 10 CF in the game. Not sure anyone should be talking about benching him TBH. Not sure where the inflection point is that the negative offense outweighs the defense. He's not there yet though. He's still playable above 650 OPS most likely.
  6. He shouldn't have played him at 2b. There's zero doubt in my mind. Did it play a part in it? Who knows.
  7. He should have been there on day one. His swings looked fine. The adjustment was just small sample size of the ball not falling in. He was always ready. They just didn't know how to work him into the lineup when they had Casas/Devers/Duran/Rafaela/Abreu/Refsnyder which is ridiculous in hindsight to most, but to me at the time. We already know the ceiling of the other guys. It's going to be Anthony's franchise going forward. Even ownership was saying that the keys were being handed to the big three. There was no reason to wait on the guy who was the most ready and the most gifted.
  8. The 690 OPS isn't great, but it's playable if he's in CF because of the defense. People on here definitely got too excited talking about Mookie Betts when Rafaela's OPS was in the 790's for a week or two. That wasn't meant to last. We saw molten hot stretches from JBJ too.
  9. I've heard that the choke job is on! Sox were 4 up on the Rays in '11 at this point. They had to go 3-9 to miss the playoffs. If the Sox go 6-6, the Rangers would have to go 9-3 to catch them. HOU's next 6 games is TEX/SEA, which could help the Sox if those teams just beat up on each other.
  10. Roman had a bit of a slow start. Take out his first 10 G and it's a 915 OPS. July 4th on, it's 941.
  11. I think this has more to say about how inept the lineup has been with hitting HR. Devers: 31 HR
  12. I agree with Breslow going this route. I think he needs another guy in there helping him out. Hopefully it's someone that has a little bit more experience. Seems like having Theo in there hasn't been the silver bullet we all wanted as there's been several missteps along the way that I don't think Theo would have found himself in.
  13. Bello has a history of being a Yankees killer. Crochet is the ace. Bats just need to show up.
  14. What are the intangibles?
  15. My assumption is that RISP #s somewhat follow all #s. If the Sox are towards the top in offensive categories, RISP would probably not be some weird aberration where they are bottom half. They are 5th in runs, but 13th in HR's. Most likely that's due to hitters getting RISP home at a very healthy clip.
  16. You think they'd non-tender Lowe? We always project non-tenders and it rarely happens. They'll probably need a 1b going into the season with Casas on the shelf IMO.
