  1. My point was that he's not hitting those bombs at home and people thought he would be.
  2. It has really come together for him recently. Even early on this year, his secondaries weren't showing that well. Now, they are actually somewhat playable in MLB. There's more work to be done, but he's a lock for an Opening Day rotation spot.
  3. 744 OPS as a DH for Ref. Lowe and Abreu are the only other guys with DH AB's that had OPS > 800, but both were SSS (11 PA's combined). Anthony has a 925 OPS at DH (950 LF, 775 RF).
  4. The Sox would have been a better team in 2025 if they had kept Devers. This doesn't mean they will be worse going forward! Depending on how they spend his AAV and what they do at 1b/DH, the Sox could be better off without him on the roster. Can't say definitively today though.
  5. Matz's OPS was a lot higher vs RHB before he was traded. I think there is some SSS luck involved. Chapman's career splits aren't horrible. Murphy didn't show a split back in '23 so it may not be a concern for him.
  6. Most likely HOU would have to go on a run since they'd be currently 4th in the AL East. If we believe the Sox are beating out TOR and NYY for the division, it's because the Sox are streaking rather than both teams falling off.
  7. The new rules have a lot to do with the increase in balks.
  8. I still haven't seen a replay where it hits the pole. I need a Madden telestrator showing me what happened.
  9. I'm fine with him hitting 800 with above average defense for the next few years. I think 900 was a nice hot stretch that the team really needed at the time. Some fans just need to reset expectations. Some people thought he'd come in and jack 30 bombs because of the Monster (5 home, 11 away).
  10. It includes Roman Anthony at DH, which greatly inflates the horribleness of everyone else who has played there.
  11. No one will ever know how much of an impact the trade had on Devers psychologically, but for the most part he's been playing a much better brand of baseball recently.
  12. I think that zero quotes means that he was a non-issue when he was here. If he was a problem, we would have heard about it.
  13. Not a sure bet, but I'd take him over most of the other options even if they are limiting his innings somewhat.
  14. Arias ended up with a 817 OPS for August. He had a bad June and July, but has turned it around.
  15. I paid attention to Aita at the start of the season because of his high spin rate. He has some decent secondaries, but I think his overall ceiling is limited depending on that fastball. If he can keep it closer to 95 than 92, he has a chance to keep pitching well as he moves up. He'll be in AA next season with an outside chance for AAA.
  16. Probably Uberstine more than Early. Uberstine is a Rule 5 guy.
  17. Looks like I missed voting this time around. My only notes on the top 20 are that I don't think Yoeilin or Yophery are top 20 guys. I'm not sure I'd have either in my top 30.
  18. I've heard that WED may go to Harrison, but not sure it's confirmed. I wouldn't say he'll be better than May or Buehler though.
  19. Breggie OPS since 8/2 720 OPS since 8/23 310 (10 games) His current 864 OPS is his highest since 2019 and still may be a little inflated. He had a 795 OPS from 20-24.
  20. Crawford, Sandoval and Hendriks were known injury risks going into the season. Sox are also building up a Dodgers-esque resumé of sending arms to the IL both in MLB and MiLB with the new pitching philosophy.
  21. Wonder why they've hoarded so many lefties in the pen?
  22. Devers since trade: 836 OPS Red Sox DH's not named Devers this season: 727 OPS Devers since trade: 1.2 fWAR Jordan Hicks since trade: -0.3 fWAR The team would be BETTER if Devers was still here. Everytime Masa is DH'ing or Hicks is pitching, they'd be better with Devers. They went 3-7 the 10 games after trading Devers. They got better because they promoted Anthony, not because they traded Devers. Anthony and Devers could have been on the same team. Breslow just didn't like the contract. I agree that the trade was a salary dump. SFG dumped Hicks onto BOS. Since promoting Roman Anthony, the Red Sox are 45-27.
  23. Rafaela has been bad, but that's the rollercoaster you sign up for with his profile. He also has the chance to get randomly hot out of nowhere so he needs to keep playing. Masa and Hicks can take the phantom IL slot though.
