  1. http://nesn.com/2015/05/ben-cherington-refutes-jackie-bradley-jr-charlie-furbush-trade-rumor/ I'm not an Edes fan to begin with. Edes responded to Ben by saying "yeah, well, one of the teams in the trade WAS my source you ninnymuggins!"
  2. Consider yourself very lucky, my friend... He is the absolute smarmiest dink you could put on the radio and one of the reasons I barely listen to sports radio anymore.
  3. I read something today that Ben said there was no truth to the rumours. Idk... It's all just speculation on our parts. Not sure why the Mariners would ever say no to that deal.
  4. You mentioned that JBJ is bigger. During August of last year, Felger (local radio hack) would make a god awful clearing of his voice noise that insinuated that JBJ's physique wasn't natural. To me, a 25 year old putting on muscle mass isn't a huge revelation.
  5. Last year at this time was the Charlie Furbush for JBJ rumors... Yuck.
  6. *insert annoying Felger clearing his throat noise* I think JBJ has always had a good hit tool. I think he just tinkered with his swing too much and it took him off his game. He's still very young and not a finished product. The best is yet to come with him.
  7. No one is telling you not to make new posts. It's just a suggestion to avoid topics like "wow, last night's game was great" when there is already a thread for it or "Travis Shaw is a beast" if there is already a thread about 3b or Shaw still on the front page. Also, if there are limited resources on this website, how could one reasonably expect there to be a mechanism for daily site purging? We are used to fewer threads because it's easier to track which conversation belongs where. When there are 4 different threads about Buchholz, it just dilutes the conversation rather than adds to it. As the great UN? once said, "bigger isn't always better, it's the motion in the ocean." If you have a great idea for a thread, make a new one.
  8. Oh boy! Fan drops ball segment with Gary Striseskmiskiski! Thanks NESN!
  9. Haven't noticed. Been too much Lyons for my liking.
  10. Considering the flak that some people get around here for "psychoanalyzing" Panda and his eating habits, this is an even greater leap in logic. I don't see him thinking that way personally and tend to just think his defense will look better over the long term. At most, maybe it's the case where he needs to spend more time working on his offense and his defense has suffered a little?
  11. Also, defensive metrics are spotty at best right now.
  12. Aren't you the guy complaining about SSS in other posts? I could be wrong. This seems to be the case here since his defensive WAR is well above replacement for 2014 and 2015. Should we expect that he will end the season with 4 errors (which would tie his career total)? I wouldn't expect that.
  13. I can't argue with that. I don't think any stat is perfect.
  14. Isn't Seattle playing well this year?
  15. Why would the Cards trade Holliday? They are above .500 and Hazlebaker has been slumping the way we expected him to. Grichuk and Piscotty will be in the OF for years to come, but there's no reason to believe Hazelbaker will stick around much longer.
  16. This is all that is required for a 5th starter. Just try to keep the team in the game.
  17. There is no power impact on OBP. A HR counts the same as a single. Everything contributes to OBP regardless of power. Power has absolutely nothing to do with OBP.
  18. I'm willing to change my viewpoint if someone can provide better evidence than "it's a no brainer."
  19. That hole is typically filled by a mishmash of AAAA guys. Would a full year of Buchholz be worth $26M? Nope. And there is more than one person on here that call the decision a "no brainer." Sorry, I just can't agree with that. It's also language that belittles anyone who thinks otherwise. I don't see the point in throwing around Vlad Dracul's money without regard for who is actually playing.
  20. Sitting Ortiz against a LHP? I'm ok with it. He can't go every day.
  21. He's also spent lots of real time on the DL and has had real struggles in the past. To me, he's just not a sure enough bet to take up a spot in my rotation.
