  1. Dojji, why do you care? You've never even been to a game at Fenway before.
  2. Yawkey was a racist. If you don't like the name change, you're on the wrong side of history. Yawkey was so racist, he was the last of the racist owners to integrate. f*** him.
  3. Cliff doesn't matter when we're all gonna die anyway! WHOOP WHOOP!!!
  4. That was basically the title of the article. Turns Out Felix Isn't So Junior
  5. Stupid would have been to do that if there was only 1 out.
  6. @MikeSilvermanBB BREAKING: John Henry: Red Sox ready to change name of "Yawkey Way." He's "haunted" by racist legacy of ex-owner. f*** yeah! I take back everything I've said about JH being a vampire.
  7. f*** yes we are agreeing!
  8. To all you TS sweathogs, I'm here to announce that Slasher definitely doesn't like saves. Truly yours, 2011 wasn't that bad of a year guy
  9. http://articles.chicagotribune.com/1993-01-28/sports/9303173083_1_angel-manager-buck-rodgers-junior-felix-florida-marlins RE: Junior Felix MIAMI — When the Florida Marlins picked Junior Felix from the California Angels in the recent expansion draft, they were led to believe that he would turn 25 in October. That, after all, is the age at which he is listed in baseball's official record books. Now, however, they're discovering that their "young" right-fielder is at least 30, and maybe even as old as 35. The club asked Felix about the fact that his hair had turned predominantly gray. He was listed at 24, but he told them that his family had a history of graying prematurely. "We're aware that Junior probably is older than the records say," Marlin General Manager Dave Dombrowski said. "But it's not a big ordeal for us. We're going to live with it. He's our right fielder."
  10. Was game 163 in 1978 a playoff game? If no, I rest my case. If yes, why is the additional game included in regular season stats. Check mate wildcardists!
  11. Play in games are to get into the playoffs. They are not themselves playoff games.
  12. Nobody overvalues saves. No one cares about saves. It's a false equivalency.
  13. Per NESN, Amaro coaches the base running aspects. Need to lay off Butterdude except for plays at the plate that runners are explicitly running on their own (JBJ signing to Butterguy that he's going home no matter what and Betts running through Butterperson's stop sign).
  14. Nobody thinks all outs are bad. It doesn't necessarily mean it's bad, but there is enough supporting evidence elsewhere to include it.
  15. We need some "little people" for OBP. Also, Bolt would be ok only if Farrell could also hold a starting gun.
  16. 2017 is the apocalypse: @ClearTheBases Trey Ball done after 7 IP: 5 H, 0 R, 1 BB, 9 K. Dogs still lead 2-0
  17. He'd get a good going away prize the morning after though.
  18. I actually think it just means it might wind up being a wash. I don't take much stock in home vs road splits and extrapolate them to a playoff series. You can do that in basketball and football because the playing fields are uniform. In baseball, there is too much of a variance from one park to the next to really project performance like that.
  19. Which is why they should have signed EE in the offseason and promoted Devers earlier so that we'd have a much bigger cushion.
  20. Who cares what the reaction in the gamethreads are? It's easy to read those 10 hours later and complain about a post. No one is saying that all outs on the bases are stupid. Stupid outs are stupid. Posters have complained about Farrell teams running the bases poorly for many years on year. This year, there are a ton of prime examples. If the organizational philosophy is to be aggressive, great. I just want the organizational philosophy to also be "don't run the bases like an idiot."
  21. Yeah, that's a bad one too.
  22. Saves are an arbitrary statistic that tell you how many close games a team has won. Is there a difference in performance if a closer pitches a scoreless 9th and the team wins by 4 or if a closer comes in with a 3 run lead and gives up 2 runs but still finishes the game? I think people just have different belief systems regarding where certain types of hitters bat and it's perfectly fine for fans to question Farrell about it. I think fans care about that much more than they care about total saves.
  23. Running from 1st to home on a game winning run that is at best a bang bang play is aggressive. Hanley trying to stretch everything into a double is stupid. The triple play was stupid baserunning. JBJ getting doubled up on a ball hit to the wall is stupid.
  24. Nope, that certainly means that the Sox would lose on the road AND at home. RIP 2017 season.
