  1. What will JH allow tho?
  2. Crochet is the ace we’ve needed. Anthony is the franchise position player. You need both.
  3. Crochet with Anthony: 11 - 3, .786% Crochet without Anthony: 12 - 6, .667%
  4. They were a below .500 team without Roman Anthony in the lineup. I don't know what to tell you.
  5. I agree. I said prior to 2025 that it was a transitional season and almost a "punt" year because they were really testing their waters with the young guys. Well, now they know what Anthony is. They have 4 OFers, Story, a starting catcher and that's it right now. They have an opportunity to add via trade and FA to get them to be a WS contender. I'm just not sure if Breslow has the capacity to get them there in one offseason. This is his third season as CBO and the training wheels should be off by now.
  6. Roman Anthony Red Sox 2025 record With Roman Anthony: 46-27 Without Roman Anthony: 43-46
  7. How is the plan wrecked? Anthony is here and he's great! He's as good as advertised. The idea of a "Big Three" came straight from the FO. It wasn't simply message board fodder. The Red Sox put their hopes in these guys. It's what they were waiting on. Was it the safest strategy? No. Should they have tried to compete from '20 - '24 while the kids were still in MilB? Of course. I'm going to enjoy watching Anthony for the next several years. I hope the Sox stay competitive and that Henry doesn't keep them under the CBT more often than not.
  8. Campbell and De Leon are off the 40 man now.
  9. Wasting one of his years would be fielding a noncompetitive team. They made the playoffs. It wasn't successful. They aren't going to win the WS every year. Did they waste Pedro's prime from 98-03?
  10. Mike Trout's prime ended at 27. Believing that prime years don't happen until the mid 20's is outdated.
  11. Whatever Mayer provides is a bonus at this point TBH. They just need to have a good backup. I have no idea what the dartboard throw will give us with Campbell. I could see him either being a AAAA guy or becoming the 900 OPS guy we thought he'd be. Really high variance with him still.
  12. 4 years down the line? He's already contributing now. He's the best hitter the Sox have left.
  13. He shouldn't have traded Devers when he knew he didn't have a 1B then. 🫠 He needed to act like a man and work things out.
  14. You don't have to wait until the deadline to make a trade for a 0.0 fWAR player like Lowe. We talked about a ton of names at the time. It also didn't help that everyone messed up the Raffy situation so bad that they sent the guy out of town who we all figured would inherit 1b at some point anyway.
  15. Only 46 hitters got to 650+ last season. Seems like a weird baseline to use? Only 12% of all eligible opening day positions get there (at most).
  16. Toro gave them a few good weeks. Once it turned south, they should have replaced him quickly. Brezzz was too slow to make a move and it left us more annoyed at Toro than we should have been. Not Toro's fault IMO.
  17. I can't believe he filmed those while still active playing in MLB.
  18. For a player like Sogard or Toro, do you also just grade them a little bit on the curve. Both of them have low ceilings so what is an A season for them? They are never going to be MVP players. Is the best Sogard going to do a C+ season? I'd personally pass on grading the lower end guys that aren't expected to be key contributors.
  19. He had 22 SB and 6 CS last season. I want that success rate to be closer to 85% if I'm keeping him on the bench as a PR.
  20. I'm implying that he's just a very annoying guy all around.
  21. I agree with you. He's not going to be a 40 HR guy because of the GB rate, but he's the franchise.
  22. Saying that Roman isn't worth waiting for is hilarious. There are 29 other teams that would take him off our hands.
