  1. @SPChrisHatfield For me, the release of Andreoli is the most interesting part of this. Leaves Cesar Puello and Jarren Duran (along with utilityman Yairo Munoz) as the only OFs in Pawtucket. I think this means they're happy with Duran's progress.
  2. https://www.nytimes.com/2020/05/19/sports/baseball/mlb-prospects-training-coronavirus.html Stranded M.L.B. Prospects Find a Backyard of Dreams Seth Blair, a longtime pitching prospect, set up a practice area in his Arizona backyard and opened it to other players who did not have access to baseball facilities during the game’s shutdown. As many as 15 of them show up in staggered groups on a given day.
  3. Yeah, I can't see relievers going for top prospects any more.
  4. @redsoxstats Blair is a hard throwing right hander. He was a 2010 first round pick who took a 5 year break from baseball. He set up a makeshift pitching academy in his back yard during quarantine and had a bunch of pitchers showing up. He's apparently smart and like a coach.
  5. @KyleAGlaser Blair had not pitched since 2014 before making a comeback attempt with the Padres last year. He was up to the mid-90s at Lake Elsinore. Now gets another shot with the Red Sox.
  6. @RedSox The #RedSox today added RHP Seth Blair to their Club Player Pool. To make room for Blair, the Red Sox released OF John Andreoli.
  7. Time to opt out.
  8. If Eovaldi stays, it's even more likely that he gets dealt next year if he stays healthy.
  9. Agree and agree.
  10. If Eovaldi keeps pitching this way here on out, I could see other GM's calling about him. They may not overwhelm Bloom with a trade, but you could get a decent prospect and salary relief.
  11. Comparing the Tigers and the Red Sox prior to 2000, I'd probably have to go with rooting for the Tigers. Could say the same for Royals/Mets too. I'm not old enough to remember any playoffs prior to 84 (especially since the Sox weren't involved).
  12. Hard to compare since they didn't start until 1993. Who would I have been a fan of prior to that?
  13. https://www.milb.com/milb/news/boston-red-sox-noah-song-not-navigating-uncharted-waters Article on Noah Song and commitment to Navy.
  14. Very painful to watch.
  15. I think Eovaldi and Perez could draw interest for sure. JBJ/Pillar could fit the "trade for a 4th OFer" that a lot of competing teams trade for at the deadline. Similarly, Moreland has a solid glove. I don't think those guys bring back a substantial haul, but I think you could get a couple high ceiling/low floor type prospects.
  16. The only players that would get something substantial back would be Xander and Raffy. Considering that they just traded a future HOFer, it's hard for me to imagine them moving either of those two guys especially if they want to sell tickets or get tv revenue next season. I think JD would have some interest since the NL now uses a DH and he can play corner OF if he has to. Any team that needs a bat to put them over the top would be more than happy to grab him. My biggest question about trades this year are that you can only trade for players currently on other team's player pool. This means that the type of prospects you can get back in a trade are more limited than normal. That could really affect any trade for Xander or Devers.
  17. This is every batted ball by Benintendi this year
  18. 9/27/17 8/7/16 4/19/14 5/11/14 9/17/14
  19. Well, you can't trade Beni or ERod right now. There's no trade value there. Bogey and Xander are the heart of the team. Trading prospects rarely brings anything substantial back for teams not in contention. Verdugo, DHern and the prospects are all cheap and controllable. It doesn't make much sense to move them. Vaz is the only half decent catcher in the organization. Trade: JD, Eovaldi, JBJ, Pillar, Peraza, Moreland, Chavis, Perez and any of the relievers not mentioned.
  20. Tanner Roark is pitching for the Jays. Roark had a good start last go around, but he's more of an innings eater than anything else.
  21. I think EVERYONE is fair game. However, my preference would be to keep (based on trade value): Devers, Bogey, Verdugo, Vaz, DHern, Beni, Casas, Downs, Mata, Duran, Groome, Song, Ward If they moved Xander or Raffy, I think it would be brutal for the fans.
  22. Speak for yourself. I'm a sucker for titles.
  23. My only real question is: why isn't Kyle Hart starting? Is he just injury insurance?
  24. He doesn't have the consistency. I think it's better to keep him as a reliever.
  25. Well, he almost doubled his Game Score from game 1 to game 2. If he does that again, it'll be closer to an average start. If he keeps compounding his Game Score like that, he'll have the CY wrapped up by year end.
