  1. He won a WS. That was enough.
  2. But if he really were paying attention, wouldn't he know that he couldn't extend Sale, re-sign Eovaldi AND extend Betts?
  3. What if we went back to the 2010-2011 offseason and did a do-over? Keep Rizzo. Don't sign CC. Use prospects to trade for Greinke. Re-sign Beltre.
  4. Well, the Sox haven't yet torn down the club. They dealt Mookie because they couldn't re-sign him. They replaced him with a starting RFer and filled an org need at 2b and C. They dumped Hembree and Workman because the team was out of it and neither were in their long term plans. Until they move Devers or Xander, it's not a tear down IMO.
  5. I bet JH has a budget and once they got to the tipping point it was a "you can't get there from here" moment. I wonder if JH spends less time fretting about particular roster moves than we do. To him, the budget is the budget. The ultimate value is the cash that comes in and the market value of the club. He probably doesn't even know who Tristan Casas is.
  6. That's the only reason I believe it could be a possibility. I think it's more likely that JH wanted to keep Betts, but realized too late that the other high dollar contracts that were signed in recent years would severely restrict that.
  7. I believe his idea is that the org depth was trash and that at some point there needed to be a focus on rebuilding the farm. I don't believe the MLB squad needed a "rebuild."
  8. Maybe that was a fundamental disagreement between DD and JH and caused JH to move on?
  9. Move Lindor/Xander to 2b.
  10. More sexism. Great!
  11. No, they have a s***** stadium in a horrible location. They get good tv ratings and are even more popular on the east coast of FL than the Marlins.
  12. If he gets past the Sox, I'm going to believe that the Sox are going to replicate 2020 next year.
  13. The Perez market is crashing.
  14. Yup, kinda weird. Maybe the Cleveland Baseball Team is currently bouncing checks?
  15. And the anticipation is that you could sign a Perez replacement for less than $6M. Maybe even get a guy on a multi year deal for less than 6M?
  16. That's how you build back a farm even if your hands are tied.
  17. Anyway, if guys like Hand are being let go, Sox could feasibly use their unlimited checkbook to completely revamp their pitching rotation and bullpen at a cost lower than previous market value. Is there an argument to not do that? If guys are being dumped for $$$ reasons, does that mean Perez's option is too much money and they could find a cheaper replacement?
  18. Also, the Sox should totally re-sign Hembree.
  19. Especially when Moreland gets DFA'd and the Sox re-sign him this offseason.
  20. Meh, their logo is a mess.
  21. Their logo is really, really great. I've been thinking about getting their hat since they first came out a few years ago.
  22. I know that if harmony were here he'd say that going Shed Long this offseason may be a good value after his .221 BABIP this year.
  23. Problem being that Bradley Richard Hand only has one "I."
