  1. Wonder how Giants CEO Larry Baer markets his team to FA's this offseason? He's probably lower on Stock's value than we are.
  2. @ZackMeisel The Guardians have placed Brad Hand on outright waivers with the intention of declining his $10 million club option if he goes unclaimed, sources say. If a team does claim him, the Guardians won't be responsible for paying his $1 million buyout. Hand posted a 2.05 ERA in 2020.
  3. @BenBadler MLB wants to kill the New York-Penn League and turn it into yet another college wood bat league: Rest in Pieces Spinners...
  4. I am bullish on keeping him around.
  5. OPS pitch 1-25: .663 OPS between 26-99: .586-.597 OPS pitch 100+: .617 Can't say that's really a "pumpkin"
  6. What else did I have to do? Work?
  7. Trades Heath Hembree and 2 months of Workman for Seabold and Pivetta. Hembree gets DFA'd the following offseason. So basically Seabold and Pivetta for nothing? That's king s*** right there.
  8. Per MiLB transactions: July 6, 2018 San Diego Padres optioned RHP Robert Stock to El Paso Chihuahuas. April 14, 2019 San Diego Padres optioned RHP Robert Stock to El Paso Chihuahuas. July 13, 2020 Philadelphia Phillies optioned RHP Robert Stock to Phillies Alternate Training Site. No options remain for Stock.
  9. On the other end of the transaction, Robert Stock gets sent back down. This is not a major surprise as Stock, despite a big fastball of his own, hasn’t really found his footing in multiple stints this year. The righty has tossed 13 1⁄3 innings for the Red Sox and has a 4.73 ERA with 14 strikeouts and 10 walks. He does have another minor-league option remaining for 2021, but given the roster crunch coming this winter he could be in danger of losing his 40-man spot at some point. Ok, so some places say 2, some say 1 and some say 0. Great.
  10. The 40 man roster lists it as options remaining after 2019 season. So maybe it should say 1? The plot thickens.
  11. Per Fangraphs, he had 1 prior to the 2020 season, so he'd be out of options? WTF??? C'mon people!
  12. https://www.mlbtraderumors.com/2020/07/phillies-designate-robert-stock-for-assignment-set-opening-day-roster.html Injuries have played their role, but Stock also has struggled to locate the ball throughout his time in the minor leagues (career 5.5 BB/9). He has a pair of minor league options remaining and was claimed by the Phils the last time he hit waivers, so perhaps another club will speculate on his powerful right arm. Seems like he has two?
  13. LOL wut? So the second that Snell gives up a hit, you just assume he'll repeat game 2? Why even start him then?
  14. Yes, you need a 100% balance between analytics and what is going on in real life on the field. If a guy has a history of striking out a specific batter 10/10 times, but he's struggling to get the ball over the plate, odds are that you probably should get a new pitcher. Having analytics that say pull a starter out before the 3rd time through the order is fine, but it can't ignore recent history of a bullpen pitcher's struggles. If Cash went to a reliever that had been dominating recently, it would have made much more sense.
  15. I agree only because the 26th spot is most likely going to be another rule V guy.
  16. I think that goes into the "more likely to contribute" calculation. Guys like Brice have limited upside. You know what they are. A guy like Aybar might not be at Brice's level yet, but odds are that he can give you better value at some point.
  17. If the guys at the bottom are really that fungible, the difference between Stock and the other guys may not be that much. At that point, you just keep the guy who is more likely to contribute to the MLB roster.
  18. Do options even matter? You can use the option to get the guy back to MiLB, but that doesn't get them off the 40 man roster. Right now, the worry is the 40 man roster, not the 26 man active roster.
  19. @M_Montemurro Phillies have outrighted LHP Adam Morgan and RHP Heath Hembree off the 40-man roster, sources say. Both pitchers entered offseason arbitration eligible. Morgan had flexor tendon surgery earlier this month and has 6-9 month recovery. Hembree was acquired from Boston in Aug.
  20. If there were only advanced stats for overuse and decreased effectiveness...
  21. In celebration of Rusney’s final day: https://www.reddit.com/r/redsox/comments/jjt8sb/now_that_hes_a_free_agent_here_is_a_goodbye_video/?utm_source=share&utm_medium=ios_app&utm_name=iossmf
  22. Winter meetings are Dec 6-10
  23. So far: Tapia Lin (AAA) Leyer (AAA) Triggs Kickham Godley Peraza Covey (AAA) Puello (AAA) means they have accepted minors assignment to WOO.
