  1. Not a contradiction. @IanCundall Looking back at the trade deadline, the Red Sox turned 13 IP of Workman (6.92 era/2.46 whip), 9.1 IP of Hembree (12.54 era/2.36 whip), 73 PAs of Moreland (.609 OPS) & 97 PAs of Pillar (.801 OPS) into Nick Pivetta & the #11, #12, #15, & #20 prospects in the @SoxProspects rankings.
  2. If we assume 150 FA's will sign over the next 90 days and each FA will sign a contract that's approximately 100 pages long (addendums and such), the MLB offseason will move about 152 ft/day, which is much slower than a sloth that can move at about 14,400 ft/day (astounding speed, really). Snails move at about 360 ft/day (ignoring sleep), still about 2x as fast as MLB. Now, even the fastest glacier moves at about 98 ft/day can't keep up with the speed of MLB paperwork. We can correctly ascertain that MLB moves at a pace greater than glacial speed, but slower than a snail's pace.
  3. For Boston, they predict: -SP Jose Quintana 2yr/$18MM -2B Kolten Wong 2yr/$16MM -P Anthony Desclafani 1yr/$4MM
  4. I have many bullets ready.
  5. Then they should have just kept him and had him serve his suspension.
  6. Too high for Lester.
  7. It's going to be very slow moving IMO.
  8. So then why total the fWARs for the previous 3 seasons? IMO, Perez will be the better pitcher in 2021 than Lester.
  9. Me, big brained poster, think Lester is the same pitcher as he was in 2018. 89 mph FB and 91 mph FB are the same thing!
  10. "Right now."
  11. Why won't it happen. They played through the first part of the pandemic. Evidence shows that they really didn't care all that much about the pandemic aside from not having fans in attendance.
  12. My concern with Lester is that he'll be 37 and his velo is way down. I think it's a trend of him pitching himself out of the league. I think Perez will stick around for another 5 years or so. By "right now" I meant as of today, not back in 2018.
  13. Strange-Gordon was born in Windermere, Florida, the son of former Major League pitcher Tom Gordon and Devona Denise Strange.[3][4][5] His parents were high-school sweethearts but did not marry; Tom had relationships with three other women as well and had a total of five children, all in Florida.[3] Dee is his second-oldest.[3] When Dee was seven years old in 1995, his mother Devona was shot to death by a subsequent boyfriend who claimed that she was shot as they played with a loaded gun. The boyfriend pleaded no contest to manslaughter and was sentenced to five years in prison. [6][5][7] Tom Gordon sued for custody of Dee and raised him with the help of his own mother, Dee's grandmother.[3][8] Dee's half-brother, Nick Gordon, was drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the first round (#5) of the 2014 draft.[9] Strange-Gordon's full name is Devaris Strange-Gordon. Friends and family call him Varis. He was known professionally by his full name until 2008 when a Missoula Osprey public address announcer mispronounced his first and last names. He thereafter chose to be known professionally simply as Dee Gordon.[10] In 2020, he stated that he would like to return to being known by his legal surname professionally, to honor his mother.[11]
  14. And at this point, they can't get him off the luxury tax calculation and the free agent market is colder than dog s***. No reason to rush this situation.
  15. If Bloom didn't really want him, why reach out to him multiple times? Maybe he's like 75% on board? Maybe Cora's not 100% on board? IDK.
  16. Potential 2b fits per OTM: Tommy La Stella, Kolten Wong, Enrique Hernández, César Hernández, Jurickson Profar, Dee Strange-Gordon, Jonathan Villar, Asdrúbal Cabrera, Jonathan Schoop, Joe Panik, Jason Kipnis If you are going to have a year where you’re looking for a solid option to fill in at second base for a year or two, this is the year for it to happen. This is a loaded class for two-ish win players. The top of this section of the market is likely either La Stella or Wong. The former has used tremendous plate discipline to somewhat quietly be one of the better hitting second basemen in the game the last couple of years while the latter relies a bit more on baserunning and defense to provide his value. It’s hard to make any strong predictions in this market, but these two could get a bit more than the Red Sox want to allocate at this spot. The next tier here, though, represent a lot of players who should be paid right in line with what the Red Sox are likely looking to use for second base. Enrique Hernández has had some inconsistencies with the bat, but his ability to play in the outfield could appeal to the Red Sox. César, meanwhile, doesn’t have much of a ceiling but he’s been a consistent two-win player for a long time now. Profar is the former top prospect in baseball, and like Hernández can play multiple positions while providing solid, albeit inconsistent, offense. When you get down to the guys like Strange-Gordon, Schoop, Villar, Cabrera, Panik and Kipnis, you are looking at a group of veterans who are a bit past their prime but can still bring enough to the table that they should get major-league deals.
  17. Lisa needs braces!
  18. They don't want to push him out the door. They want him to make the decision and pick the day. It's PR.
  19. Collusion.
  20. Perez is better than Lester right now. Lester would be the feel good story on opening day, but it'd get ugly quick. Morton and Porcello are probably good fits though.
  21. Most 4th and 5th starters are ham and eggers.
  22. Collusion
  23. Says you. Gyorko plays 2b. We need one.
