  1. Tanner Houck gives the Red Sox best debut by a starting pitcher since Eduardo Rodriguez (7 2/3 shutout innings) on May 28, 2015.
  2. Overlay of slider and two seamer: https://twitter.com/pitchingninja/status/1306026288734445568?s=21
  3. Houck talking about his slider grip: https://twitter.com/pitchingninja/status/1306008230783578113?s=21
  4. Pitching Ninja shoutout: https://twitter.com/pitchingninja/status/1306008100844048395?s=21 Tanner Houck, Wicked 85mph Back Foot Slider...and Sword.
  5. Mattingly (on Houck still): fastball always running in, breaking ball gets at you
  6. Mattingly: Marlins didn’t see the breaking ball good, Houck was effectively wild
  7. High praise for Houck from Marlins announcers.
  8. OH s***, I missed one. I will now fall on my petard.
  9. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_Seattle_Mariners_seasons Since 67, the Sox have only been as bad as the 2020 Mariners three times (that includes this year).
  10. @redsoxstats The Pirates seem to be running away with the #1 pick after their doubleheader sweep yesterday. Did some draft reading last night, while #2 would be nice, it’s not the end of the world. I don’t think Leiter is a lock to go there at all, for the Sox or any other team. Top 5 is key. I know some people on here believe MLB will combine '19 and '20 records for the draft, but that hasn't been confirmed at all.
  11. @houck_tanner Reaching the big leagues has always been my dream. Today, as I make my MLB debut with the @RedSox I’ll be donating $100 per K toward my Pitch For Adoption campaign. As I reach my dreams, I hope to make more dreams possible for these deserving kids.
  12. @SoxNotes Rafael Devers has a .500 OBP during his current 14-game on-base streak, reaching base in 30 of his 60 plate appearances. During that time (since 8/30), he leads the majors in AVG (.455) and leads the AL in hits (25) and XBH (10).
  13. In fact, if the money is "not" there this offseason, it's 100% due to collusion.
  14. We heard that in relation to Mookie's FA market too. The money is there. The money will always be there.
  15. The good version of Edwin Jackson? https://www.baseball-reference.com/leaders/leaders_most_franchises.shtml
  16. Just as likely as him signing with his hometown Dodgers after that team again falls up short in the postseason.
  17. Maybe his new splitter will be more effective against LHH than his change was?
  18. He was "fine" in Spring Training. Sox are unsure if he's a starter or bullpen guy going forward. Good chance to figure it out.
  19. Wasn't the whole point of going year to year to gear up for a big career defining contract?
  20. IMO, it'll be business as usual.
  21. I don't see them going over the cap next year. They may in 2022. Too much uncertainty in 2021 with Sale and ERod. Hard to blow your wad with all these ongoing question marks.
  22. Teams will be spending, just not the Sox.
  23. If they sign one big name player, it's not a big splash IMO. If they sign a ton of lesser known guys, it's not a big splash. I don't see them doing a Theo 2010-2011 offseason a Ben 2014-2015 offseason, or a Dombrowski 2015-2016 offseason.
  24. A 4th OFer on a large contract that is not great in a luxury cap era.
