  1. I hadn't seen Houck pitch since Spring Training. He looked like he had a shot to make the 2020 rotation then. Now that he's been given a shot and has succeeded, we surely should minimize it and say "well, he's not necessarily part of the plans for 2021!"
  2. With how bullpen use has trended, it makes more sense to have your #6 in the pen. There's enough innings to go around where Houck wouldn't need to be stretched out if someone got hurt.
  3. Yes, the asked for Price. That's why they were ok with moving on from Maeda.
  4. No way do you get more than that for 1 year of Mookie.
  5. You think Bloom could get more than Verdugo/Downs/Wong straight up for Mookie?
  6. I think signing one 1b in FA would keep Dalbec in AAA for the time being. I could even see them keeping him in AAA to refine his approach (not that I agree with that). However, there's no excuse for Houck to be in AAA. Even if they went crazy with signing SPers, there's still a role for Houck as a #6 or long man.
  7. Yeah, he was drafted as a two way player, but Sox wanted his offense.
  8. Fine, they wanted Graterol as part of the trade for Mookie to the Dodgers. Seems like the Dodgers would have only spared pitching prospects that were of lesser value than Wong and Downs.
  9. 1 year of Mookie for multiple years of Verdugo would have been a fair trade. They originally wanted Brusdar from the Dodgers, but backed off him after seeing his medical records. If the best they could get was Wong and Downs, I don't see how people could complain. Mookie wasn't coming back here next season. He would have been wasted on this team and lots of people would be on here screaming that the Sox should have traded them when they had the chance.
  10. Sox had many holes in the farm. Holding out for one particular need to get a lesser return would be dumb.
  11. Billy Hamilton vintage 2021? No. He's fast, but hits like Lin Manuel Miranda now.
  12. Muniz to IL. Puello called up.
  13. Red Sox 2020 1st round pick Nick Yorke made his @PawSox debut today. He got two at bats, lining a single off Bryan Mata and walking against Robinson Leyer. Impressive debut for an 18-year-old facing the top pitching prospect in the system and a reliever with MLB experience.
  14. Thunder is probably happy with this. Jacob Wallace, PTBNL for Pillar:"One of best makeups I've ever scouted in New England, says scout." Summer '18 Bourne Braves:13.2 IP, 0 R, 5 BB 25 K. '19 UConn:42 20 6 3 10 68. Tewksbury's Scott Oberg recruited him to UConn. Wallace from Steve Bedrosian's Methuen.
  15. @PeteAbe #RedSox tonight vs. #Yankees: Verdugo RF, Devers 3B, Bogaerts SS, Martinez LF, Vázquez C, Plawecki DH, Bradley Jr. CF, Chavis 1B, Arroyo 2B and Pérez LHP.
  16. Also, Devers is out of his slump. The Beni and Peraza black holes are no longer in the lineup.
  17. @TheAthleticLA He's 22, a weight-room marvel and a general goofball. Meet Brusdar Graterol, the most popular player in the Dodgers clubhouse
  18. @SoxNotes The Red Sox and Yankees have identical 13-14 records since August 19. The Sox are 3-1 in their last 4 games, while the Yankees have won their last 8. LHP Martín Pérez (3-4, 4.33) faces LHP Jordan Montgomery (2-2, 4.76) tonight at 7:30 in a 3-game series opener at Fenway Park.
  19. @PeteAbe #RedSox VP of player development Ben Crockett said the team is planning a fall camp for prospects next month in Ft. Myers. Invites have not yet gone out. They've had discussions with teams in the area about having games, but nothing scheduled yet.
  20. Baseball team names are definitely unexciting. Probably the Portland Puffins.
  21. On July 29th, 2014, the Portland Mavericks Baseball Club, Inc., was re-incorporated with the Secretary of the State of Oregon and is currently in good standing. The team is in development with the PBL League along with other teams to restart the team in 2022 in Portland, Oregon. I wonder if they would be unable to use the Mavericks name due to trademark infringement.
  22. @pgammo ‘It’s complicated’: Concern rising for Eduardo Rodriguez’s bounce-back ability cool cool cool cool....
  23. Why do you think I have multiple screens?
  24. The 2020 Sox are the strike out/throw out of MLB.
  25. This bullpen ROCKS!
