  1. From my post "Seems a lot of the high-quality LoA/SS-A teams were rewarded with promotions to HiA, with most of the Carolina Lg getting moved down to LoA. Greenville probably has the better park, so that fits." MLB's big complaint was about facilities in MiLB. Seems like they are going to start rewarding MiLB clubs with nicer facilities.
  2. Next year, mvp 78 will select "pass" on listening to the Rule V draft. Maybe...
  3. You and me both. Notin, would you please enter "low point" into Slack?
  4. No Sox players selected.
  5. Boston takes nobody in 2nd round of major league portion.
  6. That'd be a 4 year degree if not longer.
  7. They are using Slack. Wonder if people are talking s***? MLB executives: just like us!
  8. Went to Miami.
  9. @SPChrisHatfield Whitlock was identified as a likely selection in today's Rule 5 Draft. Sinker/slider guy coming off of July 2019 Tommy John. May get stashed on the 60-day IL for the beginning of 2021.
  10. @PeteAbe Whitlock is coming off TJ surgery. He was a top -20 prospect in the Yankees' system prior to that.
  11. Jacko, anything else to add?
  12. Baddoo and De Geus selected before Sox pick. Sox at 4: Garrett Whitlock
  13. They are streaming it on MLB.com
  14. There is also a minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft. Any player who is on the 38-player Triple-A roster is protected from being picked in the minor league Rule 5 draft. There are no eligibility rules that have to be maintained in the minor league phase. The player is drafted, the player's old organization is paid $24,500 and immediately the player becomes a member of his new organization. Almost all of the players picked in the minor league phase of the Rule 5 draft are viewed as useful organizational players for their new team, but occasionally a player does find his way to the majors with his new organization. Top players picked in the minor league Rule 5 draft include Alexi Ogando, Justin Bour, Omar Narvaez and Alejandro De Aza.
  15. It's something to talk about when there is literally no other Sox news to discuss.
  16. I don't believe there is a 1/1 correspondence. For example, see Gandhi in the CIV series. You can have a strong peaceful nature, but one thing could turn you into a nuke lobbing psycho.
  17. Depends on what your definition is of top dollar. Was 2/18 worth it for Mike Minor? Drew Smyly 1/11?
  18. Also, I think the reason JBJ was always talked about as being a trade chip is that he'd go through Ruthian hot streaks and then fall back to earth. Maybe you could have moved him during a hot streak and maximized that value?
  19. 100%. I'd sign him for a 2 year deal. He'll be 31 next year and his production will only go down the longer the contract gets.
  20. Castillo lost a lot of his power potential and slowed down as he bulked up. He still could have been a valuable 4th OFer except for those contract quirks. Baddoo is also 4 years younger than when Castillo signed.
  21. If everyone is waiting around for a bargain, the market inefficiency is to get the guys at the top.
  22. I can see that, but there have been some moves like Morton for 1/15 that kind of stand out showing me that maybe the offseason isn't that different for some teams. I think teams like Pittsburgh will totally tuck into their turtle shell. The top spenders will still spend.
  23. I think you're thinking of coke and mirrors.
  24. You spent a lot longer on this than I would have. I actually like your roster set up. 1. Defensive first CF. 2. Cheap upgrade at 2b. 3. Makes a move to get a younger guy with upside. Maybe swap Taylor or another LHP for Brice. I don't think this thrusts us into an automatic WC contender, but it least pushes them a lot closer.
  25. Greenville and Salem swapped leagues. Greenville was low A, will now be high A. Salem was high A, will now be low A. @SPChrisHatfield On Greenville/Salem flip: Seems a lot of the high-quality LoA/SS-A teams were rewarded with promotions to HiA, with most of the Carolina Lg getting moved down to LoA. Greenville probably has the better park, so that fits.
