From RedSox.com: E-Rod expected in 2021 Though lefty Eduardo Rodriguez continues to be under evaluation for the Myocarditis (inflammation of the heart) that prevented him from pitching this season, the Red Sox have no reason to believe he won’t be healthy come next season. “We plan on him having a good offseason, building back up, being ready to go next year. Right now, the science is still trying to figure COVID out. I personally think it would be hasty to nontender him no matter what. Unless his arm falls off, I pay him just in case.

The guys at SoxProspects said recently that they were a little hasty when they originally called him a UTIL guy. From what they have heard from scouts in the organization is that he's going to be a catcher first and foremost.

@TheAthleticMLB The Players Association has informed MLB that it will not allow clubs to include 40-man players in their offseason instructional camps. Looks like Aybar and Wilson will be getting an extended break rather than much needed reps. Not good!

Both Rays catchers are worse than Plawecki in fWAR this year. The are both almost as bad at framing as Plawecki is. Bad defense AND bad offense is no way to go through life, son!

Vaz is number 1 dWAR this year. Plawecki is middle of the road. Plawecki is one of the worst framers in MLB. When are those robot umps coming again?

Well, the brought Casas to PAW during the year, so I think he values him a little.

Pivetta's hard hit % was around 50% last night showing there was a little bit of luck involved, plus "the Orioles." I think the continued worry is that he may be a bullpen arm since he doesn't have a great pitch to get lefties out. I think the Sox have done far worse for a 5th starter than Pivetta though.

The Rays throw some very mediocre guys out there at C. I wouldn't be surprised if they went with Plawecki as the starter. He's looked decent this year. He'll be fine even when his bat comes down to earth.

I only read posts from 8AM - 4PM. Everything else goes by the wayside for the most part.

@redsoxstats If the Sox sweep the O's - they have Eovaldi and Perez going- Baltimore jumps ahead of the Sox in the draft pick race. The Sox would probably be sitting on the 5th-7th pick heading into the last 3 with Atlanta, who are throwing their worst starters and will be playoff resting.

In 18 appearances. Seems that he's pitching well out of the pen. Maybe that's his best utilization?
