  1. If Mookie was still here, they wouldn't have made the playoffs. Their pitching was horrible. He would have been the only one hitting at the start of the year. 927 OPS Betts wouldn't be replacing a AAAA guy like Munoz or Chavis, he'd be replacing 845 OPS Verdugo. They maybe win 2 more games? Maybe?
  2. The $30M to Sale every year will be tough to swallow if he doesn't come back to form.
  3. Something something Henry's checkbook something something...
  4. From Jan: Quatraro was one of the first names to come up as a potential replacement for Alex Cora after the Red Sox parted ways with their manager in the wake of the sign-stealing scandal. With former Rays executive Chaim Bloom running the show in Boston, Quatraro was a name quickly linked to the opening. However, Rosenthal reports that Quatrato is “unlikely” to be a candidate. According to Rosenthal, executives that have left the Rays organization (like Bloom) usually do not take other members of the staff with them. Additionally, Rosenthal reports that some teams have rules in place to prevent this, but does not indicate whether this is the case for Tampa Bay. Is waiting an additional year long enough to get around these unwritten rules?
  5. And no, I don't support bringing back Dale Sveum in ANY capacity.
  6. Bob Zupcic is alive and well, FYI.
  7. Nobody tell me if Ed Jurak died, ok?
  8. Damn. RIP. I didn't know about that one.
  9. John Marzano and Phil Plantier for Joe Carter. Who says no?!?!?
  10. These trades go back to sports radio call in shows and much further in our nascent past.
  11. Did they do an analysis on the Mookie trade?
  12. RIP Wendell Kim. I don't think we should waste our hologram budget on him though.
  13. *pushes up on my glasses* Well, actually...........
  14. If a frog had wings it wouldn't bump its booty.
  15. He could close out games sometimes. It's why he only pitched 40 innings. He just was no longer durable. They had Robbie f-r-e-a-k-i-n Ross get 6 saves in 2015. Jean Hatchimachi had 4 saves. Uehara was the closer because of a lack of other options. I bet the Sox would have rather had Uehara in a different role if they could have (which is why the traded for Kimbrel after the fact).
  16. That just depends on how Bloom spends it.
  17. Little was gifted a superior roster to what Jimy had. Jimy was a better fit for the Sox during that time period and I believe he could lead them out of the wilderness again. Also, s-c-r-e-w Grady Little forever and a day.
  18. Not to be ageist, but I think 90 year olds could only be a bench coach at best.
  19. Yes. Jimy still has that quote game. Dick Williams is just "aahhhhhhhhhhhhhuhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh."
  20. You only need a replacement if you plan on competing. We still don't know what the overall plan is for 2021, a year where ERod and Sale remain big question marks again.
  21. Jimy took some really mediocre Sox teams and made the best out of them. He was let go because he didn't like Carl Everett. Clearly, Jimy knew better than Duquette on that. If Jimy wasn't fired, they win WS in 03 AND 04.
