  1. Not just him: @pgammo MLB called the Tigers when story of their interest in Hinch and Cora surfaced with reminder they cannot be approached until after WS. Many in Bosox org. Want him back, but Chisox are a really interesting job. Nov. 1-5 will be interesting
  2. It'd be dope as hell if they ChiSox hired John Farrell.
  3. @Joelsherman1 #WhiteSox GM Rick Hahn said that for a manager they would be looking for an experienced candidate with recent experience in a championship organization. Let me look that up in my thesaurus. Ah, it says Alex Cora and A.J. Hinch. Who else falls into that category? Looks like ChiSox are trying to go with the same old same old. Why not go for the guy that has the experience of standing up to dinosaur deniers?
  4. Chatham is a slightly worse version of Christian Arroyo. Arroyo was DFA'd and unclaimed this year. I can't imagine teams would claim Chatham.
  5. They have to DFA him to get him off the 40 man, right? More likely he gets picked up then.
  6. "Well, they feed me milk and cookies when I fly first class, so those must be allowed!"
  7. I don't think they are necessarily locked into keeping these guys for the whole year. If a new manager came in and didn't like someone, they can just get rid of the guy. I think it just means that the Sox would be happy to have those guys back if the next manager wanted to keep them.

  9. That was just water weight.
  10. Never going to happen with the CBA.
  11. I think you don't realize how many AAAA retreads get bounced around the league. Just wait until they add 2 more teams and more roster spots!
  12. If they cared about Chatham, he would have been up in 2020. He's on his way out IMO.
  13. @alexspeier Red Sox announced that the contracts of Jerry Narron (bench coach) and Craig Bjornson (bullpen coach) weren't renewed for 2021, but the rest of the coaching staff has been invited to return. So: hitting coach Tim Hyers, assistant hitting coach Peter Fatse, pitching coach Dave Bush, assistant pitching coach Kevin Walker, third-base coach Carlos Febles, first-base coach Tom Goodwin, and coach Ramon Vazquez are all back. The team also notes that "special assistant/catching coach Jason Varitek" has been invited back, which may be the first time he's been mentioned as part of the coaching staff rather than as a special assistant to the front office. Just to be clear: He was listed in last year's media guide as a "special asst/catching coach," but in the "major league personnel" section, next to other alum special assts like Ortiz and Martinez. But, Varitek has spent an increasing amount of time in the dugout in recent years. Jimy Williams to Sox on one year deal as manager. Varitek is promoted to bench coach. Get it done BLOOM!
  14. Don't leg Greg Luzinski off the hook here...
  15. Probably covered under Amendment JJ - Big Is Beautiful and Busted Belt Buckles
  16. If Rich Garces isn't greeting fans on opening day next season, it'll be a travesty.
  17. I think the Sox could just say to Pedey "look, we know you aren't going to play this year and we need your roster spot over the offseason. We either have to waive you or figure something else out. We really want you to retire as a Red Sox." Maybe they think it's more worthwhile to maintain the good relationship and keep him on payroll to just let him be on the bench in a player/coach role? IDK.
  18. I went through the Health & Safety portion of the CBA and there is nothing that prohibits a team from examining their players. If Eovaldi is getting treatment for a work related injury from a non-affiliated doctor, the treatment must be disclosed to the Sox. There is language about an "annual physical exam" of all players in Spring Training. As for signing a player, a failed physical exam seems to void the contract. My favorite language I found was this: Loyalty 3.(a) The Player agrees to perform his services hereunder diligently and faithfully, to keep himself in first-class physical condition and to obey the Club’s training rules, and pledges himself to the American public and to the Club to conform to high standards of personal conduct, fair play and good sportsmanship. If that's the case, why wasn't Pablo's contract voided? Did his health just not go far enough over the line? Maybe it's just language that really isn't enforceable?
  19. “He wouldn’t be a passive investor,” said Wharton School Professor of Management Maurice Schweitzer. “It doesn’t make sense for a level playing field to be a part owner of two franchises. It wouldn’t be a good look and it’d set a terrible precedent.” I agree. It probably makes more sense to sell of his stake in the A's. They don't have a great tv deal and are stuck in Oakland due to the Giants owning a considerable portion of the NoCal market. Sox are more profitable. They have their own carve out in New England. Also, the "Fenway Sports Group" is much more than just the Red Sox.
  20. I think Puello, Chatham, Leyer, Covey, Tapia are more likely to be gone than not. There have been a lot of people that think Springs is very likely to stay. I would probably keep Stock too (at least over Hart, Aybar, Walden, Leyer and Tapia).
  21. Castillo's deal is done. There is no more obligation to him as he's a FA.
  22. And the point is you don't want him on the 40 man this offseason as it limits your moves.
  23. Cleveland is already a public company apparently. I knew the Celtics were.
  24. Could be part of it. Especially if the books are going to be open. Will the Red Sox becoming public force NESN to start paying $$$ to the Sox, or is it included as part of the offering?
  25. Only way they get more than that is if Betts was a starting pitcher...
