  1. @BenBadler Red Sox signed Jedixson Páez, RHP from Venezuela, and Karim Ayubi from Curacao. Glad to have a Jedixson to pair with Jhostnyxon Garcia.
  2. I'd rather Schoop for one year.
  3. @ChrisCotillo Adding another 2B option to the mix: The Red Sox are in on Marwin Gonzalez, per sources. Obvious Cora connection from Houston. One of a few versatile options they're looking at.
  4. I liked watching Ravelo defensive highlights, but they are all so far away. The guy who compares with Ravelo defensively is: @JonHeyman Dominican SS prospect Armando Cruz is expected to sign soon with the Nats for about $4M. Defensive whiz. My guess is that Ravelo signed for much less because his bat is further behind.
  5. Never trust the "sign that guy because he's a Red Sox killer" guys.
  6. Imagine hoping for Springer, but winding up with Beni... Yikes.
  7. He makes Eovaldi look like an iron man though.
  8. The 2015 Rays pitchers Bloom may collect this offseason: Andriese - check Archer Colome Moore Odorizzi Yates That's 82 GS for that group.
  9. Played in Japan last year.
  10. They were worried about Ells leaving 3+ years later?
  11. I hope the shoe to drop isn't "Matt Moore."
  12. @ChrisCotillo Two more free-agent starters the Red Sox have checked in on, per sources: Garrett Richards and Matt Moore.
  13. @jonmorosi Source: Corey Kluber talks are intensifying and there is an increasing likelihood that he will sign with an @MLB team by Martin Luther King Jr. Day. Kluber’s throwing session this week was well-attended by team execs and scouts. @MLBNetwork The original expectation was today.
  14. Should have signed Jayson Werth rather than a second CFer.
  15. @BenBadler Red Sox today signing one of the top pitchers in Venezuela for this year, RHP Alvaro Mejias.
  16. MLB hopes to bring back seven-inning doubleheaders and the runner-on-second-base extra-inning rule, writes USA Today’s Bob Nightengale. The league is advocating for a continuation of these rules specifically for fear of the coronavirus continuing to affect the schedule. The league also seems to be in favor of keeping the universal DH and expanded playoffs, though those issues are still being discussed. No rule changes are made official, of course, until the league comes to an agreement with the MLBPA. The debate around expanded playoffs seems particularly challenging right now, as a greater playoff field, in some minds, actually de-incentivizes teams from spending in free agency since they have a greater margin for error. Reduced spending on free agents is a hot button issue right now, and it’s going to be the lens through which the players view many of the topics under discussion for 2021. Nightengale notes that there’s at least a chance that MLB ends up with the same rules in 2021 as in 2020, with the exception of roster sizes dropping back down from 29 to 26.
  17. Difference in how the players are posted maybe?
  18. There better be an increase in moves or ownership will be in trouble in the next CBA, especially if everyone is anticipating a full season.
  19. @SoxProspects Bleis' $1.5M bonus is T-9th for #redsox IFA under 25: Moncada, '15, $31.5M Iglesias, '09, $6.25M D. Flores, '17, $3.1M Lin, '12, $2.05M J. Vinicio, '09, $1.95M A. Espinoza, '14/Tazawa, '08, $1.8M D. Diaz, '17, $1.6M Bleis/Devers, '13/C. Acosta, '14/M. Almanzar '07 $1.5M
  20. Also my thoughts on Andriese are: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K4Ksoizbl2s
  21. Bloom was not with the Rays when Renfroe was there.
  22. I'm not saying Bloom is adding the smokescreen. I don't think he cares about that kind of stuff. This ownership group is very concerned with PR though. IDK, it's just a conspiracy I have right now. Probably wrong.
  23. Here's OTM's write up on Miller: https://www.overthemonster.com/2020/12/16/22178105/boston-red-sox-offseason-preview-brad-miller-free-agent I like Brad Miller. He seems to be a fit. I just assumed that his past with the Rays made him too obvious of a choice.
